I was super thrilled to receive a package from Spellbinders with so many new goodies from Jane Davenport’s Making Faces Artomology line! I was excited to try all the mixed media products, especially the Silky Skin ColorStick Gel Crayons in the gorgeous colors.
I started by prepping a bunch of white cardstock with gesso and letting it dry thoroughly. I added some texture paste through an alphabet stencil and let that dry. I got out the Colorstick crayons and used the packaging technique to add paint all over the cardstock. I used the Warm Heart Dramasticks with my finger to smudge some extra color onto the page. Once that all was dry, I used various stamps to randomly stamp on the page with black ink for texture. I then added some white paint to blend everything together. Once my page had dried, I turned it into a traveler’s notebook cover for my artsy inserts. I made a super cute tag for the front of the cover, and my favorite part is the cute crown from the Queen for a Day die set. I finished off the cover with a pretty tassel of ribbons!
Next, I decided to make a page in my artsy insert since I had all the supplies (and mess) out already. I used one of the faces from Jane’s I Came, I Saw, I Contoured Face Charts, to start my page. I used the Colorsticks to color the face; I just used my finger to smudge the color, I used the Noble Red Velvet Pastel Matte Gel to add some color to the lips and a touch of it for the cheeks. I used the Tentalicious dies to cut some tentacles from book paper and black cardstock and stamped the flower from the Colour is Happiness stamp set onto some white cardstock and fussy cut them out.
I added loads of stamping, using the Mindful Pause Stamp Set to the bottom of the girl and started putting all the pieces together. I used one of my Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers in turquoise from my stash for the wash of color on the background of the page. Next, I moved onto the right side of the page, I sketched out some blocks and then added some more of Jane’s stamps, black paint, and more Colorstick color! I added a few embellishments from my stash and added some journaling!
I loved trying out the Jane Davenport Artomology products and loved how my projects turned out. Having the pad of faces to play with is super fun, especially if you are like me and drawing isn’t your best talent! A big Thank you to Spellbinders for sending me such lovely items to work with! Be sure to check out all of the Jane Davenport offerings!
