Time for Tea – Paige Evans + Silhouette

November 15, 2018

Hello!  Hope you are having a good day!  Paige has the most adorable Tea Cup (Design ID# 279012) cut file in her Silhouette store.  My daughter has been enjoying a cup of tea most afternoons while she does homework or studies, so I snapped up this design!

I cut the teacup as it is from white cardstock, I then removed the tiny flowers from inside the teacup and cut it again the same size. Lastly, I added a border to the outline of the teacup and cut it from white cardstock.  I ended up with three versions of the cut file.  I added pattern paper from the 6×6 Whimsical paper pad (Paper 5) behind the tiny flowers.  The mini hexagons did a nice job of spacing out the color to make the different flowers stand out! I backed the handle and saucer with Paper 8.

I backed the 2nd teacup I cut with purple ombre paper just in the top of the cup (where the liquid would be)  this will allow me to slip my photo and tea packet into the cup!   I glued all the cup cut files together except for the top portion and the inside of the teacup.  Once I decided on placement for my layout, I attached the teacup to the background with some foam.

I slipped my photo and tea packet into the cup and added a few pop dots and some adhesive to secure them.  I fiddled around for quite a while on where to add the string tag for the tea, as you can see I settled on attaching it to the top of the layout and let the string trail down to the cup.  I printed out some journaling, added a few of the sticker washi tapes to that area and stapled it to the layout!  I decided to cut some white butterflies from Paige’s Butterfly Border cut file to use as accents.  I adhered the butterflies with pop dots and layered a few of them on top of each other for more dimension!

To finish off the layout I cut one of the sweet cards from Paper 13 and tucked it by the photo. I also cut a sentiment from Paper 8 to create a cluster spot at the bottom of the layout to balance the top cluster.  A couple more strips of washi from the Whimsical sticker book and I was done!  Be sure to check out the lovely Tea Cup cut file!

You a Maze Me – Paige Evans + Silhouette

November 7, 2018

Hello!  Thanks for joining me today!  I have a new layout using Paige’s Maze Background cut file (Design ID #267505) and a few of Paige’s collections from Pink Paislee, including Turn the Paige, Oh My Heart and Fancy Free!

I started the layout by cutting the maze from white cardstock.  I reduced the size of the maze to about 10″x10″ so I would have a wider border around the edge.  I got the bright idea that I wanted the whole maze background to have a  nice deep shadow, so I spent a bit of time adding foam tape and foam dots all around the backside of the background.  I didn’t add foam to every piece, just the key areas to hold it all up nicely.

My embellishing came next!  I had chosen the title before anything else; you can see how amazing I am at titles 🙂  One of my favorite things to do is to mix the alphas from all of Paige’s collections, it just looks so fun and whimsical!  After I chose a photo of my daughter doing homework, I decided to go with a star theme and picked out all the stars from the Turn the Page chipboard stickers!  I used a journal piece from Fancy Free to ground the top cluster and make a great starting spot for my title.

I added the start here chipboard from Turn the Page at the bottom of the layout.  I thought it would be super cute to have it pointing to the little star peg that I added into the maze.  I popped on a few more stars around the chipboard and also added a star paper clip from Turn the Page!  To make the little star peg I tucked an eyelet (not squished) under the cut file background paper in one of the grooves then I glued a gold star to the top of the eyelet!

Paige’s cut files can be used so many ways!  Even though I kept the background very simple on this layout, it inspired the whole page and the meaning behind the photo for me!

This Life Flower Layout – Paige Evans + Silhouette

October 11, 2018

Hello!  Today I have a layout featuring one of my favorite things – flowers!  I used Paige’s Folk Art Flower Group (Design ID #271160). You get a lot of bang for your buck with this cut file as it has multiple flowers and leaves!

I decided to use Pick Me Up for my layout.  The colors remind me of fall, and the deep pink/red goes beautifully with my photo!  I did some customizing with the cut files; I made 4 of the main flowers in 4 consecutively smaller shapes so that I could stack them up and have a dimensional flower.  I also cut a large one (approx 5″) for a focal flower.  I cut two from pink/red paper (Paper 11), one from navy (Paper 3) and a cheery yellow flower (Paper 7) I cut the different leaves all from the teal paper (Paper 13).

I arranged all my flowers into a design on the page first.  I then added the photo and began tucking in the leaves.  It seemed easier to add the leaves this way to see where they looked best!.  Once I had the flowers and leaves arranged, I decided I needed some paint in the background.  I puddled paint around the leaves with a brush and then added some splatters as well!  I added rubon flowers, chipboard, and stickers from Pick Me Up for my finishing touch!

You Got This – Paige Evans

September 24, 2018

The one thing I love about scrapbooking and it is particularly prevalent when I get ready to make a layout with Paige’s cut files is the mystery of what I will make!! That might sound a bit silly, but I find it fun to just stumble across something that speaks to me at that moment and go with it!  Looking through Paige’s cut file shop at the Silhouette store is like browsing through a candy shop.  The files say “pick me,” for this layout, I chose the Flowers Cut File (Design ID #268655) and cut it from white cardstock.

I decided to get out my Vicki Boutin mixed media goodies and paint up a background.  I wanted the flowers to stand out, and I could have painted the flowers and put them on a white background, and I think they would have looked stunning that way too!  I used colors from my photo and some pretty gold texture paste.  I love the fall colors, and I was also inspired by the little 2×2 paper from Turn the Page.

I added stickers around the layout from the Turn the Page sticker book and some stamps in black ink for some more texture.

I decided to paint the flower centers black and outline the petals with sketchy black lines so the flowers would pop even more!  I added foam dot adhesive for dimension.  I am really happy with how my layout turned out.  This flower cut file is really gorgeous and I am sure I will cut it again and try painting the flowers!

Live Brave – Paige Evans + Silhouette

August 20, 2018

There is nothing I like better than a beautiful wreath on a scrapbook layout!  I chose Paige’s Leaf Wreath (Design ID #262723) and cut if from white cardstock.  To make sure the wreath was highlighted I added paint in a soft peach and pretty pink color in a circle on a white background.  Of course I needed little paint splatters!

I decided to use embellishments and a paper from Take Me Away.  I fussy cut a nice bunch of flowers to place on the wreath and I finally got to use the cute chipboard carousel horse!  I tucked in the Love You stitched tag from Take Me Away beside the photo for a nice cluster!

On the upper area of the wreath I added the Live Brave chipboard and a heart to go with the carousel horse.  I love the pretty airy feel that all the leaf sprigs on the wreath give to the layout.  At my last count, Paige has 37 wreath cut files in her Silhouette shop!

Glamper – Paige Evans + Silhouette

August 2, 2018

I LOVE this little Glamper (Design ID #271162) by Paige Taylor Evans! I knew I wanted to make the glamper super cute and sweet so I started digging through my stash and found the colors I envisioned in Oh My Heart and Turn the Page by Paige Evans.  Once I had the glamper cut, I then cut some clouds using the Cloud Trio (Design ID #216711) cut file, for the solid clouds I simply ungrouped the cloud files and deleted the inside cut lines.

I got busy and started backing the glamper with papers from Oh My Heart; I used a black paper from C’est La Vie at the bottom of the camper. For the pennant, I used the 2×2 squares from the 12×12 paper from Oh My Heart.  I wasn’t sure what all I would use for embellishments on the layout at this point so I thought a multi-colored banner would work with anything!  I took awhile to decide whether I wanted the body of the glamper to be all black or not and in the end, I liked it lightened up on the top half!

I added some pink and white scalloped paper from Oh My Heart to the bottom of the layout to serve as the “ground” for the glamper to sit on.  I also added a single scallop to the top of the layout for a nice frame! I decorated inside the windows with the paper ledge paper from the Oh My Heart 6×6 paper pad and added stickers and puffy stickers for dimension!

I layered up a field of flowers on each side of the glamper; I used printables of Paige’s collections so I would have lots of flowers and who doesn’t take their kitty glamping?   The kitty is slowly being chased by the snail!  I love that the little puffy stickers add just the right amount of detail and cuteness!

Butterflies, white clouds, and stars fill the top part of the page and make a home for my photo! The stars and butterflies are from Turn the Page; the colors go with Oh My Heart so well!

For my title, I used the Adventure gold rub on and carefully placed it onto a cloud.  I spent some time tucking little butterflies and more puffy stickers into spots for added detail!  I love how the layout turned out!

Flamingo Envy

July 26, 2018

Paige offered a super cute Flamingo Pool Floatie cut file for free in her Happy Scrappy Group and I just had to use it!  The group is free to join and has loads of inspiration for using Paige Evans cut files and collections!

I had to make my flamingo pink and went straight for Oh My Heart!  I backed the flamingo in two of the pink papers and left the middle ring open for my journal card since I do not have a flamingo floatie!  I added lots of pink flowers and attached the sunglasses to my journal card to make it easy to pull it in and out.

I didn’t want the flamingo to be stranded so I painted her a pool and some splashes!!  It was so fun to make this page!

Sweet Time – Hip Kit Club

July 18, 2018

I am happy to be sharing a layout I made for Mixed Media Monday at the Hip Kit Club!! My assignment was to use the June 2018 color kit, stitching and cut files so off I went!

I cut one of the background files by Kim Watson (June) and used it as a stencil to mist the background with the pretty blue Shimmerz spray. I then added both other Shimmerz paints for loads of sparkle and splatters!

I layered and layered all the pretty papers and embellishments from our Pinkfresh Studio goodies in the June kits! I love how my page turned out!! You might want to consider using a cut file as a stencil, it creates a unique look to your background!!

Today – Paige Evans + Silhouette

July 16, 2018

I chose Heart Group (Design ID #260894) from Paige’s Silhouette store.  I knew I wanted to do some mixed media on my page and thought about how I could tweak the cut file to get the look I wanted!

I first cut just the whole outline from white cardstock by ungrouping the design and deleting the hearts.  I then used spray mists to “fill in” the heart.  I used four different colors, and the cut file made a great stencil!  While the ink was drying, I went back to the cut file, and this time I deleted the outside cut line of the hearts and just kept the heart’s themselves.  I lined them all up in a grid, grouped them and then duplicated all the hearts and reduced the size.  I painted the hearts with a deep navy paint and painted the smaller hearts with white paint.  I then ran a line of stitching through both hearts and glued them onto my page!

Now comes the embellishing!!  I had chosen the ink sprays to coordinate with Pick Me Up by Paige Evans and Pink Paislee, so it was just a matter of choosing which die cuts looked great with my photo.  I chose a flower cluster, some word tabs and the butterflies from the sticker sheet.  I finished it off with the pretty “today” chipboard in glimmery gold foil!

I LOVE how my page turned out.  Using Paige’s cut files as stencils is a great way to get multiple uses out of them!

Keep Shining – Hip Kit Club

July 6, 2018

YAY for Hip Kit Club sketch day! I had such fun playing with the sketch this week and the June 2018 Hip Kits! I was intent on using more papers this month and this sketch really leaned toward that goal. I cut strips of papers and cut scallops with my silhouette. The Pinkfresh Studio cut apart paper made the layout for me! I tucked in coordinating colors and embellished with Pinkfresh Studio Sweet and Simple enamel circles and chipboard. Be sure to check out the sketch this week, it’s definitely got a lot of possibilities!!

This little vase of wildflowers is one of my favorite pieces!!  I also snipped the layered sentiment off of one of the frames and added it to my photo.

Loads of lovely layers!!

Good Life – Paige Evans + Silhouette

June 13, 2018

Lately I have had Oh My Heart on my mind!  It is still one of my favourite collections by Paige and Pink Paislee!  I got out my stash and set to work backing the Geometric Background (246550) with all the pretty patterned papers in Oh My Heart.  The Geometric background is really lovely to back, it is all straight lines and it makes a big impact when finished!

Once I started on the cluster of flowers around my photo, I realized that the flowers and cards were blending in with the background too much, I added a simple piece of vellum to the background to soften the brightness.  I had been playing around with some Vicki Boutin Gold Glaze through Paige’s Flower Bunch (259829) cut file and had the gold covered cut file left over so I added it in between the background and photo cluster.
I love how bright and cheerful the layout is, the florals in Oh My Heart make me happy every time!

June Challenge – Pinkfresh Studio

June 3, 2018

Each month Pinkfresh Studio hosts a challenge!  For the month of June the challenge is all about “Bows” which I love!  The challenge is combined with a color story and there are prizes for both scrapbooking and cardmaking!  Be sure to check out the June Pinkfresh Studio Challenge and play along!

My challenge page started out with bows of course!  I used the Caper, Whim and Quirk papers from the Let Your Heart Decide collection and cut bows on my silhouette.  I added paint swashes and a ruffled crepe paper strip to my background and then adhered my bow.

Since the bows were the star of the page I kept it pretty simple with the embellishments.  I added two flowers from the Let Your Heart Decide Ephemera pakand a tag and tab from The Mix #02 as well as a Tassel Bow from The Mix #02.

Playing along with challenges are a great way to start a layout!  Share you layout by June 29th on the Pinkfresh Studio blog and if you share on Instagram please add the hashtags #pinkfreshstudio & #pinkfreshchallenge.
