Like A Rainbow – Hip Kit Club

June 4, 2018

Today I am sharing a layout I made using the May 2018 Hip Kits! My assignment was to use the gorgeous June Moodboard by Irit and the Pick Me Up alphabet stamps! I was drawn by the rainbows in the moodboard and used the Vicki Boutin paints in the May 2018 Color Kit to make my rainbow! I painted it on white cardstock and added messy black stitching and then popped it up on a white background with black splatters.

The super cute chipboard from Simple Stories and a rosette from Crate Paper finished it off! Be sure to check out the June Moodboard and get your stamps out!

Pinkfresh Studio Liquid Watercolor Blog Hop

June 4, 2018

Pinkfresh Studio has released a line of gorgeous Liquid Watercolor Paints!  I am thrilled to take part of the Watercolor Blog Hop featuring the new line!  The Pinkfresh Studio blog will be giving away (1) set of Liquid Watercolors on each of the the following Pinkfresh Social Media sites: Blog, Instagram & Facebook.
Each of us taking part of the blog hop will be giving away a $25 giftcard winners will be picked from the comments!

The first thing I did when I received the watercolors was to make a swatch sheet!  The colors are so vivid and rich.  They blend down beautifully with water and you can achieve a bright bold feel or a soft subtle look!

I couldn’t wait to paint flowers with the Pinkfresh Studio Watercolors so I chose to do that for my first layout.  I did some quick pencil sketched flowers and leaves and filled them in with paints.  I used the Clementine on the background for a soft green background for the flowers.  A few embellishments from Let Your Heart Decide finished off the layout!

I wasn’t done with florals yet!  I decided to make a second layout with florals but this time I painted a blank white cut file from Just Nick for the floral base.  I didn’t add as much water to the watercolor paints and ended up with some pretty rich colors!  The Licorice paint makes the most beautiful black splatters in the background!

For my last layout I decided to go bold!  I chose the puffy stars from The Mix 02 as my jumping off point and painted a big sheet of cardstock with ALL the colors!  I then punched out stars in rainbow colors and added them around my circular photo.  I used the alphas from The Mix 02 for my title and changed the alpha colors each time the stars shifted in color!  The layout turned out beautifully and it was SO fun to make!

Giveaway Details:

Winners will be posted on Sunday, June 10th on the Pinkfresh Studio GIVEAWAY PAGE. Winners must check that page & claim their prize within 2 weeks.

Be sure to leave a comment below on my post to be entered for the $25 Pinfresh Studio Gift Card!

June Challenge – Pinkfresh Studio

June 3, 2018

Each month Pinkfresh Studio hosts a challenge!  For the month of June the challenge is all about “Bows” which I love!  The challenge is combined with a color story and there are prizes for both scrapbooking and cardmaking!  Be sure to check out the June Pinkfresh Studio Challenge and play along!

My challenge page started out with bows of course!  I used the Caper, Whim and Quirk papers from the Let Your Heart Decide collection and cut bows on my silhouette.  I added paint swashes and a ruffled crepe paper strip to my background and then adhered my bow.

Since the bows were the star of the page I kept it pretty simple with the embellishments.  I added two flowers from the Let Your Heart Decide Ephemera pakand a tag and tab from The Mix #02 as well as a Tassel Bow from The Mix #02.

Playing along with challenges are a great way to start a layout!  Share you layout by June 29th on the Pinkfresh Studio blog and if you share on Instagram please add the hashtags #pinkfreshstudio & #pinkfreshchallenge.

A Little Magic

May 13, 2018

I made this layout last week just for fun!  I had purchased a Heidi Swapp Sugar Chic Paper pad a long time ago before I ever even scrapbooked.  Maybe something in me knew I better get it!!  I mixed the paper with lots of Crate Paper goodies, doilies and a butterfly from WeRMemory Keepers.  I love the shabby chic feel to the page!!

Ballet Canvas – Paige Evans + Silhouette

May 9, 2018

I have wanted to paint a dance canvas for my daughter for some time.  When I saw Paige’s Ballet Slippers (Design ID #264065) cut file I knew it would work perfectly!

I started out by cutting the outline of the shoes in white cardstock and then painting the entire cut file dark pink.  I used the pink watercolor paint from Vicki Boutin’s watercolor set.  Once the outline was dry, I applied it to the canvas with gel medium and let that dry.  I then painted in the shoe, leaving white space for highlights.  Using various pinks and peachy pinks I added splatters in 3 areas of the canvas.  I finished off with a few Heidi Swapp Gold Colorshine splatters for good measure!

I had some flowers left over from her last year’s ballet solo costume as well as some white paper flowers. I added some white paint, and pink watercolor to them for a mixed media feel.  I used hot glue to arrange them at the top of the canvas.  I added watercolor to some thin white ribbon and tucked that into the flower cluster for a bit of extra dimension and prettiness!

We both love how it turned out!  There are so many of Paige’s gorgeous cut files that would work great for this technique!

Sweet Little Things

March 21, 2018

I have been playing with the Vicki Boutin Watercolors and Irridescent Glaze that we received in the March 2018 Hip Kit!  I like to fiddle around with new mixed media goodies to get the hang of how they work and the way the colors dry.    This layout has a lot going on, sometimes I just like to let loose and use all the things!!  I cut quite a few of Paige’s Rolled Flowers (Design ID #238507) and painted them with Vicki’s watercolors.  The background paper is from Turn the Page and the black paper with white script is from Vicki Boutin’s All The Good Things collection.  This page was sure fun to make!

Painty puddles always make me happy!!

Paige’s rolled flower cut files are so versatile!  I cut them from white cardstock and paint them pretty colors!

I mixed the pink watercolor paint with the irridescent glaze and scraped it over a stencil for the big dots!

Blue China – Crate Paper

March 19, 2018

The moment I saw the pretty blue and white floral paper named Poetic in the Crate Paper Flourish collection I thought of my Aunt and her love of blue and white china.  I fussy cut every rose out of the Poetic paper, I knew I wanted them to be bountiful on the layout!  I also used a paper I had painted with Vicki Boutin’s Watercolors as inspiration and as a layer on the page.  I had to channel my inner Jill Sprott to include so many patterned papers and lengthy journaling!

At the last minute I added a small strip of paper with the row houses on it.  It tied in all the colors from the ephemera and went with the homey story!  I had started the layout with just blues and it all blended too much, the addition of a little bit of pink and yellow made it much more interesting!  It was so much fun to use so many papers.  I will definitely try it again!

I love how the roses play off of the watercolor behind them!  I kept my photos fairly simple since I knew I wanted a busy full background!

I cut so many tickets from the Always paper, Maggie Holmes usually includes lots of tickets and vintage feeling paper items in her collections.  They really fit well with the story on my page and tucked them in where all the papers overlapped.

Supplies: Flourish Poetic Paper (344366) Flourish Home Sweet Home Paper (344378) Flourish Nostalgic Paper (344370) Flourish Always Paper (344367) Flourish Emma Paper (344364) Flourish Provence Paper (344377) Flourish Ephemera (344387) Flourish Chipboard Stickers (344386)

Worth It / Hip Kit Club

March 6, 2018

Sharing my layout for Mixed Media Monday on the Hip Kit blog using the gorgeous February 2018 Hip Kits. I had a few false starts for this project and ended up trashing a few papers! When you are playing with paint and mist and experimenting, sometimes that can happen! It finally occurred to me to mix the Dylusions spray and the Lemon paint to make a peachy color and then the page took flight from there with the stunning  Pinkfresh Studio Let Your Heart Decide goodies and the Distress Oxide ink! I am happy with the way the page turned out, so if at first, you don’t succeed in mixed media, keep on trying!!

I love the heart paper from Pinkfresh Studio, I used it on multiple layouts this month!

Gorgeous painty puddles!!

Watch Over Me

February 28, 2018

Paige will ask us if there is anything we would like to see made into a cut file.  I put wings on the list!  I have been wanting to make a page with this idea for a while and Pick Me Up is the perfect collection to make use of the pretty Angel Wings (Design ID #237178) Paige designed!

I started out by typing out my journalling and then adding white paint to Paper 20. My typed journalling adds a soft layer! I decided to fussy cut my photo and by a happy accident it turned out to be a pale pink that matched Pick Me Up perfectly! I add the wings to the back of my photo and then adhered my “paper doll” Grandma to a painted tag. I cut flower shapes from Paper 16, Paper 23 white card stock and tracing paper. I layered those together and added bits from the Haberdashery Pak to the middles of the flowers and also scattered the pretty pink sequins around the page. Two cute little buttons from the Rub-On set finished off the tag!

I have been so excited to get the Pick Me Up Alphabet Stamp Set and I stamped out my title onto white card stock and added it under the tag. I used a sweet die cut from the Ephemera Die Cut Pak to pretty up my title!

I say this most every time, but I love how my page turned out.  My Grandma means everything to me and making this page about her, let me feel like we together for awhile!

Capture Life

February 18, 2018

I sat down with my gelli plate and made a big fun mess! I used my new Vicki Boutin Color Pop paints and a few other mixed media items like gesso, stencils, Heidi Swapp Gold Modeling Paste and Gold Colorshine.  I used green & blue Color Pop for one set of pages and purple, pink and mint for another set.

I had no intention for the pages but I knew a greenish one would make nice leaves and I can always use leaves!  Here are the papers I ended up making.

I had a large purple flower from the Vicki Boutin All The Good Things die cut pak that I had  been wanting to use, so I decided to make flowers and leaves from the papers using some Sizzix dies.  I pieced papers onto the sides of 8.5×11 cardstock to carry the mixed media fell onto the background! Here you can see the big purple flower clustered under the photo!

I love the black and white circles from the die cut pak and I used small flowers from the sticker book as centers for the flowers!

All You Need

February 13, 2018

I love Mixed Media Monday over on the Hip Kit blog!  I shared this page there yesterday!  We received some super cool Distress Oxides in Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade in the January 2018 Color Kit.  I decided to paint an extra paper with lovely puddles of paint!  The Distress Oxides blend and oxidize beautifully when you sprinkle water on them!  After the sheet dried I punched as many hearts from the paper as I could, I then layered them down the page over top of random stamping with the sweet Vicki Boutin – All the Good Things Roller Stamp.  To embellish I used SO many flowers from the Exclusive Hip Kit Die Cut pak!  I layered quite a few of the project life cards beneath my photo and also used a PL card for my title!

A cute little epoxy badge from Pinkfresh Studio is the perfect item to top off the layers!

Lovely paint marks!

All the Feels

February 7, 2018

Sharing a layout I made for the Hip Kit blog using the fantastic January 2018 Hip Kits!  I love the Crate Paper Main Squeeze Ephemera pak from the January 2018 Embellishment Kit.  I also used the Vicki Boutin – All the Good Things Phrase Thickers for my title and a few of the gold hearts!  I was inspired by the black and white heart you see at the top of the layout from Crate Paper, so I painted a bunch of sketchy heart outlines with black paint on white cardstock.  I then splattered Gold Heidi Swapp Colorshine and then fussy cut the hearts out to use as layers.  I used the Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide from the January 2018 Color Kit for my background.  Love the way the Distress Oxide looks when you sprinkle water on it!

It was a pretty simple layout to make but I love how it turned out!

I added a cute little Pinkfresh Studio tassell bow to the heart die cut.

Lovely layers!!
