New Year Decor – Crate Paper

December 28, 2018

Hello!  Lorilei here today in the final days of 2018!  I have a easy to make home decor project that will ring in the New Year with an enthusiastic outlook!  I have had the best year creating with Crate Paper and feel so lucky each and every day!  My scrappy sign uses alphabets from all the Crate Paper collections I have used in 2018 which is a fun reflection on the year for me!  It is a great way to use up some alphabet stash too!!

I started out with a heavy piece of white cardstock and trimmed it down to 11×11 and then added a sheet of 12×12 paper from Wild Heart behind it.  Who doesn’t need some animal print in their creative space?  I gathered my chipboard and foam Thickers from Good Vibes, Wild Heart, Flourish and Willow Lane.  I also included the gorgeous glittery copper foam word Thickers from Wild Heart.

The first item I place on the sign was the Memories glitter foam.  I used my t-square ruler for each line of “text” so that it would be straight!  This gave me the spacing for every other line so that I could create a centered sign.  The first line uses Willow Lane alphas, Line 2 – Wild Heart, Line 3 – Flourish + Willow Lane, Line 4 – Willow Lane + Good Vibes, Line 5 – Wild Heart, Line 6 – Willow Lane.  At the bottom of the quote, I added the tassel banner chipboard from Good Vibes!

For finishing touches, I added a rosette Stand Out from Wild Heart, black epoxy stars from Good Vibes, copper glitter stars from Wild Heart and puffy gold stars from the Willow Lane Decorative Trim.  This little sign makes me happy and is a great reminder that no matter what we go through in a year, there are new possibilities every day for new memories, new lessons in life, new vibes to experience and new moments to document and cherish.

I wish you the very best that 2019 has to offer each and every day.

Merry Gifts – Crate Paper

December 10, 2018

Hello Crate Paper friends!  Lorilei here today bringing you some Merry inspiration for gift wrapping!  The Merry collection by Crate Paper makes gift wrapping a breeze, having the co-ordinating Gift Wrap Book, Tag Set and Card Set mixed in with the Merry scrapbooking supplies gives you so many possibilities to wrap a truly special gift!

I started by choosing a gift to wrap for my husband and my daughter.  It is so much fun to receive a gift that someone has put so much thought and effort into wrapping.  The first package is wrapped with the falala paper, so that gives me a wonderful neutral base!  I decided to string items on the gorgeous thick red and white string found in the tag set.  I chose the Santa card to be the focal point of my gift topper.

I added the tree, merry & bright tag and Santa face to the string.  I left room for my card to be clipped onto the string and also some space for the gorgeous glittery gold stars.  I added a white doily behind my card and clipped it to the string with the super cute star epoxy paper clip.   I love that the card is part of the decorating!  One tip I wanted to share with you is that I narrowed down my choices when it came to deciding what to use, Merry Days has so much to choose from and if your anything like me you want to add it all!  For my hubby, for example, I chose Santa, and then I only chose items that “fit” in with Santa, like the tree and the colors on the Merry & Bright tag.  It gave me a unified look and made it quick and easy!

For my daughter’s gift I chose the pink holly paper (my favorite), and for the card, I selected the goose, the pop of red with the pink holly paper makes a lovely statement!  As I was going through the Tag Set and the die cuts I found the pink house with the red door and knew it was the perfect fit for the package.  Doilies and gold stars add a bit of softness and sparkle to the gift!

I hope you have a lovely day, Thanks so much for stopping by!

December Challenge – Pinkfresh Studio

December 2, 2018

Hello!! It’s time for the December Pinkfresh Studio Challenge!  I’d love for you to play along!  You can find the details and how to enter on the Pinkfresh blog under the challenge tab.

This is the layout I came up with for the challenge using the Holiday Vibes collection from Pinkfresh Studio.  I started out with a poinsetta cut file and decided to use the reds and greens from the challenge to go with my photo.  You can stick to all the colors provided in the challenge or use it as a jumping off point!  Holiday Vibes has gorgeous colors and makes crafting super easy!

I decided to back my largest flower and leave the other two white, I love the look of white on white for texture and dimension.  I added an enamel sticker to the bottom flower center and a die cut to the top flower center.

I had a leftover rosette from making my December folio so I included it on this layout.  I stacked it on top of two die cuts and it made the perfect focal point beside my photo!

To finish off the layout I added a sentiment from the cut apart paper “Very Merry” under my photo, I sprinkled some enamel dots around the page for extra tiny pops of color!

I hope you find time and inspiration to join the fun challenge, Thanks for stopping by today!

Skating Bunnies Winter Card – Pinkfresh Studio

November 29, 2018

I’ve been making a few cards for the holiday season.  Hannah has always been the card maker in our house, but I find myself enjoying it more and more!  I have some awesome stamp sets from Pinkfresh Studio and for this card I used the super adorable Skating Bunnies!

I cut myself a snowy hill template from white cardstock and used distress ink and a blender tool to add some snow hills to the background.  I then used another distress ink to dab on a little skating pond.  I stamped the bunnies on another piece of white cardstock and added them with pop dots to the card for dimension.  I finished off by adding sentiments stamped directly on the card and the cut little trees on the hill.  A few icy blue sequins added a bit of sparkle.  I backed the design with a navy paper from Holiday Vibes and adhered it onto a plain white card base!

Merry Days December Traveler’s Notebook – Crate Paper

November 26, 2018

Hello Crate Paper friends!!  December is almost here!  I am super excited to start documenting our December!  Merry Days is so whimsical and pretty and perfect for all your December memories!  Last year during December I found that I could have used a spot to jot memories down or make notes about what I wanted to do.  So this year I decided to make a traveler’s notebook insert just for that purpose!

I decided on the gorgeous red Frosty Day paper with teeny white polka dots for my cover.  I love bright pops of red at Christmas!  I gathered eight sheets of printer paper (I use HP premium paper for my traveler’s notebook for a smooth writing surface)  I cut down all my papers to 8.5 x 8.5 – standard TN’s are 8.25 in height, but I just use the paper as is for ease! You might want to trim your cover just a tiny bit wider than your inside papers; it’s just personal preference, you could make a notebook any size that is convenient for you!

Fold all your papers in half and bind your notebook.  I made three holes in my spine with an awl and used waxed thread to stitch my book together; you could use a ribbon, string or an elastic band over the spine.  Once your notebook is all put together, it’s time for the fun part!  Decorating your cover!  I started with a gold card from the Tag kit; I layered a white doily a tag and a quote card on top.

I love the sweet gal with her gift and thought she would be great on a planning notebook; I used some foam adhesive to pop her up on the side. To finish off the front cover, I added some gold stars and the Holiday word from the Joyous Thickers and used the black alpha for the word plans!

My notebook is all ready for the details.  It is super quick and easy to put one together.  You could always add it to your December album as a keepsake too!

December Folio Book – Pinkfresh Studio

November 15, 2018

Hello Pinkfresh Studio friends!  Lorilei here today sharing a book full of wonderful Holiday Vibes!  If you document your December, the time is coming soon!  I thought it would be fun to make library card holders, envelopes and tags with Pinkfresh Studio’s Holiday Vibes collection as an interactive way to document!

I started by scoring a 12×12 piece if cardboard I had on hand.  The finished book measures about 9 1/4″ tall by 5″ wide with a 2″ spine.  Next, I used the Seasons Greetings paper to make two pockets to hold the pieces.  I knew I wanted them to be about a 1″ deep so I did some scoring and folding and once I had what I wanted I adhered the pockets to the inside front and back cover.

I didn’t plan the sizes of all the tags and pockets, but I wanted them to be different heights so they would stack up.  The smallest envelope is about 2″x3,” and the largest is a business size mailing envelope.  I made every height in between!  All the pockets and envelopes stack nicely in the album pockets, and there is still room to add notes and photos inside the pockets and envelopes as the days of December come!  I added one of the pockets with the sweet bird die cut on top of the right side pocket of the album.

In this view, you can see the room inside the album.  I was able to add a large bell and plenty of clips and wood buttons from the Holiday Vibes collection.  I made a few number tags that are attached to paper clips so they can be added to any of the pockets or envelopes that are relevant to that specific day.  I used the My Life Month Tags (Design ID #50615) from the Silhouette store.

The Very Merry paper is what inspired me to begin with for this project.  I loved the tags on the cut apart sheet and used all but 3 of them!  Some are made into tags with strings and tucked into pockets and others I added to the front of envelopes.  Once I had matched the cut aparts to the pocket or envelope, I laid them all out and then chose chipboard, die cuts, wood buttons, and epoxy stickers to coordinate with the sentiment or them of that piece.  I added in a few snowflakes cut from dies in my stash.

I think the 25 tag pocket is my favorite!  I love the sparkly gold die cut!  I mixed in paper bags, old envelopes, index cards, glassine bags, a manila folder, and other odds and ends to add texture to the stacks!

I enjoy just “making” things.  Pinkfresh Studio collections make it easy to mix and match, and everything looks so bright and cheery!

I hope you found some inspiration today!  Any of the pockets or envelopes could be used as a card or made to put inside an album, or maybe you’ll make a project like mine!  I think it will be super fun to pick out a pocket or envelope on any given day and fill it with lists, notes, photos, and memories.  This would make an awesome gift to get someone started on memory keeping and documenting their December!

Very Merry Trees Project – DCWV

November 3, 2018

Hello!  I had the pleasure of receiving the Very Merry Trees Paper Project kit from DCWV, such a super idea to have all the supplies ready to go in a package so you just have to get crafty and creative!

I started out the project by making the trees!  I put on a few good scrappy videos on Youtube and folded the pre-scored circles that make up the trees.  The projects come with instructions which are very clear and easy to follow.  The circles were easy to fold and they didn’t take me long to make!  I used my glue gun as they recommended for putting the trees together, again it was pretty easy.

Once I had all my trees made, I had to decide how to use them!  I had a few ideas, but finally settled on a crate full of “fresh cut” trees!  My crate is from the dollar store (4$) and made from wood, it is approx 12″ long, 6″ wide and 4.5″ deep.  I painted it white and distressed it with a bit of grey paint.  I made the farm fresh sign in photoshop to fit the front of the crate. I wrapped some string and twine around the crate and added some styrofoam inside to stick the trees into!

I love how it turned out!  Be sure to check out all the cute holiday projects DCWV has this year!

Blue Noel Paper Pad Project – DCWV

November 3, 2018

Hello!  Thanks for joining me today for a special project!  I was lucky enough to receive the Blue Noel Paper Pad by DCWV to make a project!

I quickly decided to take advantage of the pretty double-sided paper and make snowflakes!  Boy did I make snowflakes!  I cut them on my Silhouette using cut files from Paige Evans and the Silhouette store.  I punched snowflakes using a Martha Stewart snowflake punch and die cut them with a Sizziz Snowflake die.  So I had plenty of gorgeous snowflakes on hand!

I decided to make two canvases,  the first is 8×8 and the second is 6×6.  I chose the 6×4 Joy card from the cut apart sheet to be my focal point on the larger canvas.  I painted around the edges of both canvases with gold paint and then adhered paper cut a bit smaller than the size of the canvas so there would be a gold reveal.

I layered snowflakes to tuck behind the card and round tag.  To add a bit of glitz and sparkle, I strung three chandelier crystals on a fishing string and attached them to the canvas with hot glue.  I then added snowflakes to the hanging lines with glue dots.

For the smaller canvas, I used a star card from the cut apart sheet and a love banner.  I layered it over lots of stars for pretty dimension!  I strung one crystal line from the small canvas.  I finished off both canvases with a few stickers from the sticker sheet included in the paper pad.

The patterns on the papers are so pretty!  The gold glitter paper adds sparkle and interest!

I still had a bunch of snowflakes left, so I decided to make some holiday cards!  The first card features smaller snowflakes and stickers.

For the next card, I used the gorgeous floral paper as a background and layered up some big snowflakes.  This one I will hand out in person as it won’t fit in an envelope!!  The round stickers make the perfect centers for snowflakes!

The last card has one big snowflake cluster with a larger sticker in the center.  The sticker sheet on the paper pad has a variety of sentiments for both winter and Christmas!

I hope you enjoyed my projects!  Be sure to check out Die Cuts With a View’s holiday offerings!

Pinkfresh Studio will be picking 6 random comments from each day to win a $25 gift card to the Pinkfresh Studio store. There will be two grand prizes picked from the Pinkfresh Blog posts: each day a different bundle of our holiday stamps & dies.  Pinkfresh Studio will be offering a free Holiday Vibes die with any purchase in the Pinkfresh Studio shop! You have until Saturday, November 10th at 11:59pm CST to leave a comment. Winners will be posted on the GIVEAWAY PAGE on Sunday by 2pm CST. You must check this page & claim your prize within 2 weeks.

My first card features the Bloom & Grow stamp set. It is not a holiday stamp but  I thought the flowers would look adorable painted with red and green to make them holidayish!  I also used the mistletoe stamp from the Joy & Cheer stamp set.  To make the window box I used a label from the Holiday Vibes collection and finished it off with the sweet little birds!  To make the background I used Distress Ink in a few brown colors to make a “wood” look background!

My next card also uses the Joy & Cheer stamp set and a paper from Holiday Vibes!  I love the cute little Santa!  I stamped all the images I wanted to use on white cardstock.  I colored the images using watercolors and kept to red and green for a traditional feel!

The sentiments on this card are from the Skating Bunnies and Squirrel Friends stamp sets.

My last card for today features the tree from the Joy & Cheer stamp set.  I stamped the tree with green ink and then stamped the sentiment (Squirrel Friends) and tree string with Versamark and embossed with gold embossing powder.

I also stamped and fussy cut the star on top of the tree for extra dimension! It is a simple card but I love it!

Friends, that is 14 chances to win! All you have to do is hop along to each stop & leave a comment along the way to be entered to win! You have until Saturday, November 10th at 11:59pm CST to leave a comment. Winners will be posted on the GIVEAWAY PAGE on Sunday by 2pm CST. Katy Christmas

January 5, 2018

Oh what fun it was to play with the Crate Paper Pom Pom Frames & Ephemera!  I thought would throw scrappy caution to the wind and tell a Christmas story with the 2017 December Hip Kits!  I love the turquoise and yellow mixed with the little bits of red!  The pom poms add such a fun twist!

For Christmas we gave Hannah tickets to a Katy Perry concert.  It has been a long time wish of hers to go.  It was almost to late in happening as she has moved onto other artists.  She was a hardcore Katy fan for many years though, so I am sure she will be excited when it happens!

Cacti and Christmas were made for each other!
