This Is Me – Felicity Jane

September 21, 2018

I am super excited and honestly a bit nervous to share my first project for the Felicity Jane Design Team!  It is quite an honor to be on the team, and I feel very lucky!  When I received my first kit – Lola, I spent some time admiring everything and decided to make a layout for my first project!  I have other ideas about project formats I want to try with my Felicity Jane goodies, but the florals (Florals & Stripes paper) were begging to be fussy cut and highlighted!

I started the layout with a white cardstock base and layered the dark pink paper with the Stitches & Dots paper.  I fussy cut the large main floral cluster as well as three other floral pieces from the Florals & Stripes paper to use as layering pieces.  I assembled a library pocket using a Felicity Jane cut file from the Rainbow & Grid paper and it makes the perfect spot to tuck in a tag and some journaling!

This layout has lots of pretty dimension.  I added the Gingham & Hearts paper (6×6) behind my photo with a bit of tissue and foam backing.  I layered all the fussy cut florals at different heights of the layout so they would have some lovely shadows to make them pop!

I decorated the top of the library pocket with die cuts and a plain white flower.  I tucked the pink floral scallop just under the photo for a pop of color; it also helps to draw my eye to the photo!  An “H” from the Polkadot Alphas finishished off the layout!

Seize the Day & Wonder – Pinkfresh Studio

September 20, 2018

I was super happy to see the gorgeous designs and colors of Indigo Hills 2 in person!  I chose to make two of the papers the star of my layouts!

My first layout started off with the Meadow paper.  Stunning!!  I could look at this paper just as it is for a long time!  I decided to play off the leaves, and I had a back to school photo I had in mind that would work perfectly.

I cut fall leaf shapes (from SCT magazine freebies) from white cardstock and then painted them with Pinkfresh Studio Liquid watercolors!

I was super inspired by the design on the paper so I also sketched and painted a vine of leaves for the wreath.  A tip for the watercolors: let your first layer of paint almost dry and then splatter the same or different color watercolor on the leaves, it makes the most gorgeous splotches!!

Once the leaves were all dry I scattered them around the wreath.  I loved how they looked and tacked them down with glue.  I tucked my photo into the wreath and added a journaling card with a puffy sticker sentiment and my daughters initial with the Gold Foiled alpha.  A chipboard cluster of flowers and a sprinkling of gold dots from the alpha finished of the layout!

My second layout started with the Ridge paper as my background.  I layered the torn Eminence (both sides) paper behind my photo area and decided to make a linear design using the photos and embellishments.  I chose pieces from the Indigo Hills 2 chipboard, die cuts and journaling pack and added them to either side of my photo.

I popped the flower out of the die cut frame and added it with a pop dot for extra dimension. The phrase stickers have so many wonderful sentiments on them; it was hard to choose one!

On the end embellishment, I layered multiple die cut pieces to look like I “clipped” them together.  I also stamped the word wonder on the hanging tag using the Squirrel Friends stamp. It fit perfectly!

At the last minute, I decided to tear the middle out of the background paper.  I then adhered the top and bottom to white cardstock.  It made the layout less busy and showed off the photo and beautiful design of the Ridge paper!

Thank you for joining me today!  Happy Scrapping!

Be Kind – Crate Paper

September 14, 2018

Today I am sharing a layout featuring a technique I love to do: Mixed Media!  I almost always include some kind of paint on a layout,  and for this page, I got out my Vicki Boutin Mixed Media goodies!

I started out by using Vicki Boutin Gesso and covered my entire 12×12 white cardstock.  Once that was dry I scraped Vicki Boutin paint in the Daquiri Ice color in the center of the page.  Since I was going to mix pinks and teals I let the teal dry completely and then mixed cotton candy with a bit of water and added it to the page with the package technique.  I made sure to let some of the puddles drip down the page, again I let the background dry and for the last layer I added Vicki Boutin Iridescent Glaze through a stencil.

I was ready to embellish the background now using the gorgeous Willow Lane Collection by Maggie Holmes and Crate Paper.  I chose die cuts with coordinating colors to the mixed media and followed the design the paint and drips had made.  The pink paint had dripped and puddled at the bottom of the page, so I just made a point of embellishing it with a cute chipboard bow, puffy heart, and a clear sticker!

I decided to expand on the black details in the be kind tag and added two foam banners on the page, one on the bunny die cut and another under my photo.  The black creates a visual triangle and incorporates the clear sticker in the bottom cluster.  In my opinion, it keeps the page from looking too “precious” with the soft paint colors!

I added sparkly gold hearts in three areas on the page; I love that they bring in some glitter and shine and add a fun element to the layout!  If you have never tried mixed media on a layout, I encourage you to give it a try!  Begin by choosing coordinating colors for your embellishments.  It keeps a page calmer in feel and a cohesive look!

Always – Crate Paper

September 11, 2018

I have a special affinity for the chipboard sheets in the Crate Paper collections and the Willow Lane Chipboard by Maggie Holmes is spectacular!  I chose the large Always title to be the focal point of my layout, along with my cutey pie daughter!

I had fussy cut the whole Flutter paper of butterflies as soon as I had recieved the collection, they were the second item I reached for when making this layout!  I picked out the blue, teal and yellow butterflies for this layout.  I started with a 12×12 white cardstock backround and added some modeling paste and paint.  Of course I used a 4″ doily behind my photo, it is rare that I don’t use a doily on a layout!

The cute little panda chipboard piece was a last minute addition and I love her!  Panda’s and butterflies go together in my world!!  I also added two clear stickers and the blue alpha stickers to finish off my title!

Love You Deer – Crate Paper

August 23, 2018

I have been wanting to use the sweet deer ephemera since the first time I saw the Flourish collection by Maggie Holmes and Crate Paper.  I finally figured out a design that incorporated her!

I started out with white cardstock and added some light paint puddles to it for a soft background.  I then cut the love cut file (Felicity Jane) from white cardstock and backed the design with papers from the 6×8 Flourish Paper Pad.  I added pop dots to the paper backed Love piece and added it to the bottom centre of the background.

This gave me the perfect area to decorate with my photo and the super cute animals!  I fussy cut the bunny from a card on the Memorable paper so he could be a friend to the deer 🙂  I tucked in the peacock ephemera card in behind the deer and the bunny for a bit of a scenic background.  I covered the peacock with the deer as I just wanted the pretty scene to show!

I layered more ephemera and flowers around my photo and to balance both sides of the photo I added a butterfly from the Flourish standouts!  Love the standouts for all the detail they add!

To finish off the page I added a “celebrate the little things” sticker to tie in the top and bottom areas!  Such a sweet layout it turned out to be!

Sweet Summer – Hip Kit Club

August 21, 2018

Sharing a sweet summer layout featuring the July 2018 Hip Kits! I was super excited to see the acrylic popsicles and ice cream cones that Kimberly designed!

So genius with the little wood veneer sticks! Love them and had to feature them on a page! I really wanted to make a fresh and light page.

I chose the July 2018 Project Life card with the summer balloons as my jumping off point and scattered popsicles up and down the page. Little acrylic ice cream colored hearts and star stickers were the perfect finishing touch!

Live Brave – Paige Evans + Silhouette

August 20, 2018

There is nothing I like better than a beautiful wreath on a scrapbook layout!  I chose Paige’s Leaf Wreath (Design ID #262723) and cut if from white cardstock.  To make sure the wreath was highlighted I added paint in a soft peach and pretty pink color in a circle on a white background.  Of course I needed little paint splatters!

I decided to use embellishments and a paper from Take Me Away.  I fussy cut a nice bunch of flowers to place on the wreath and I finally got to use the cute chipboard carousel horse!  I tucked in the Love You stitched tag from Take Me Away beside the photo for a nice cluster!

On the upper area of the wreath I added the Live Brave chipboard and a heart to go with the carousel horse.  I love the pretty airy feel that all the leaf sprigs on the wreath give to the layout.  At my last count, Paige has 37 wreath cut files in her Silhouette shop!

Present & Wonder – Pinkfresh Studio

August 20, 2018

So happy to share two new layouts using Simple & Sweet by Pinkfresh Studio with you today! It is amazing to me how beautifully this collection goes with so many types of photos!  I of course love to make pages about my girl and I chose photos from when she was little, simple and sweet!

My first layout is 8.5×11, I started with a white background and added puddles of paint and splatters.  To ground my photo I added a strip of paper from the Happy Life paper.

I wanted a whimsical feel for this page, I fussy cut a big circle from the Splendid paper to tuck under my photo.  It then gave me the perfect spot to continue scattering embellishments up the page!  I used chipboard, puffy stickers, epoxy stickers and a gorgeous gold foiled heart!

The bottom of the layout is super simple, I added one of the divine chipboard butterflies (LOVE them) an epoxy circle and another gold foil heart.

My 2nd layout features one of my favorite papers from Simple & Sweet – the Fresh Air paper.  There are so many wonderful sentiments included in these strips!

I cut up the entire paper and decided on a color block for my layout.  I mixed my Pinkresh Studio Liquid Watercolors with white paint and using a palette knife I created strips of color across the background.  Once the paint was dry I added a few gold splatters!

After I attached the paper strips I got busy embellishing!  I kept colored embellishments with the coordinating colored paper strips.  To me this creates a full look without being too chaotic!  I finished off the layout with a gold foil XO and stitched through it.

Grade 9 – Crate Paper

August 17, 2018

While I was making my Grade 3 back to school layout with the Willow Lane Collection I also made a layout for Grade 9!  I wanted a soft pretty page and used lots of pink!

The stamp set in the Willow Lane Collection is beyond gorgeous and I used a stamped floral for my focal point.  I chose paint to match the floral and used the packaging technique for a pretty background.  I also added some Heidi Swapp Gold Colorshine splatters!

For the opposite side of the photo I added a sweet tag layered with the gold heart standout and a chipboard phrase! To finish off the page I added some tears at the top and bottom and added some of the Meadow paper to tie in the pink!

Back to School Grade 3 – Crate Paper

August 15, 2018

I was so super excited when Willow Lane by Maggie Holmes and Crate Paper arrived in the mail!  The collection is so sweet, and the patterns are gorgeous!  I love all the sweet little characters, and I especially love the folk art unicorn!  I picked out the sweet panda bear and the unicorn for my back to school layout!

I started out with a white background and splattered some Heidi Swapp Gold Colorshine around the edges.  I used one of the big cards from the Melody cut apart sheet and the black envelope from the Journaling Ephemera pack to start out the grid with my 4×6 photo.

To balance out my grid design, I added the “you are loved” ephemera with a fussy cut panda prize ribbon from the Friendship paper.  I backed that cluster with a piece of the Happy Times paper so it would be the right size for the grid!  I added dimensional adhesive to the panda so she would pop up in the cluster.

To decorate the black journaling pocket I fussy cut a sweet little house from the cottage paper.  Hannah has always done homeschool, so that represents where she goes to school!  I added a strip of white cardstock for my journaling and then the adorable folk art unicorn!  The journaling card slides out of the pocket and is a great spot to add a longer story or tuck in more photos!

To add some extra interest and dimension to my layout I fussy cut butterflies from the Flutter paper.  I love that the Willow Lane collection includes the pretty lavender color!  I decided to use just the blue and lavender butterflies to accent the ribbons on the panda portrait.  The butterflies tie all the grids together and add lots of movement to the page.  I enhanced the butterfly spots with little gold puffy hearts from the Flourish collection to finish it off!

It feels like just yesterday that I was taking these photos!  My girl is starting Grade 10 this fall.  Time flies and I love being able to make these memories come alive again with the beautiful designs that Maggie Holmes and Crate Paper create!

Summer Watercolor Leaves – Hip Kit Club

August 8, 2018

The July 2018 Hip Kit Color Kit has the new Pinkfresh Studio Liquid Watercolors and they are amazing!

I started out by adding gesso to white cardstock, I also added some texture paste through a circle stencil. I then mixed Sunshine and Sky Blue together to make a pretty green and used packaging to smush it onto the page, I added plenty of splashes and let the colors run together.  There was no need to keep it tidy since I knew I would be cutting it up!

Once my paper was dry I used by Big Kick and die cut some leaves in different shapes and sizes.  I used a stylus to add some lines and texture to the leaves.  For the background to my layout I added some Mango Tango Shimmerz (Oct 2017 Color Kit) with packaging.

Time to put my layout together!  I cut a large tag from a card in the July 2018 Project Life kit and stacked up some other cards as well.  I arranged and glued the leaves and then embellished the area with the Simple Stories chipboard found in the July 2018 Embellishment kit.

Glamper – Paige Evans + Silhouette

August 2, 2018

I LOVE this little Glamper (Design ID #271162) by Paige Taylor Evans! I knew I wanted to make the glamper super cute and sweet so I started digging through my stash and found the colors I envisioned in Oh My Heart and Turn the Page by Paige Evans.  Once I had the glamper cut, I then cut some clouds using the Cloud Trio (Design ID #216711) cut file, for the solid clouds I simply ungrouped the cloud files and deleted the inside cut lines.

I got busy and started backing the glamper with papers from Oh My Heart; I used a black paper from C’est La Vie at the bottom of the camper. For the pennant, I used the 2×2 squares from the 12×12 paper from Oh My Heart.  I wasn’t sure what all I would use for embellishments on the layout at this point so I thought a multi-colored banner would work with anything!  I took awhile to decide whether I wanted the body of the glamper to be all black or not and in the end, I liked it lightened up on the top half!

I added some pink and white scalloped paper from Oh My Heart to the bottom of the layout to serve as the “ground” for the glamper to sit on.  I also added a single scallop to the top of the layout for a nice frame! I decorated inside the windows with the paper ledge paper from the Oh My Heart 6×6 paper pad and added stickers and puffy stickers for dimension!

I layered up a field of flowers on each side of the glamper; I used printables of Paige’s collections so I would have lots of flowers and who doesn’t take their kitty glamping?   The kitty is slowly being chased by the snail!  I love that the little puffy stickers add just the right amount of detail and cuteness!

Butterflies, white clouds, and stars fill the top part of the page and make a home for my photo! The stars and butterflies are from Turn the Page; the colors go with Oh My Heart so well!

For my title, I used the Adventure gold rub on and carefully placed it onto a cloud.  I spent some time tucking little butterflies and more puffy stickers into spots for added detail!  I love how the layout turned out!
