Always La La Love You – Scrapbook and Cards Today

April 8, 2019

Today I am sharing a page that was featured on the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog in February! I chose to make a layout all about love!  I am using the fun and sweet La La Love collection by Crate Paper and some Vicki Boutin Art Crayons!

I started with a 12×12 white cardstock background for my layout.  I knew I wanted to add some touches of mixed media, so I primed it with a coat of gesso.  I considered the idea of using the Vicki Boutin Cherry Tart paint but I 1. chickened out 2. thought it would be over the top crazy! I thought about my options and decided pink would be the best way to go!  I mixed three art crayons (red/peach/pink) on a piece of packaging and added a spritz of water.  I then flipped the packaging over onto my background and smushed it around lightly in the area my photo would be placed.  With the leftover paint, I added splatters by loading a brush and tapping it around the page.  I kept the splatters around the photo area and then in a vertical strip.

Once my background was all dry I added my photo.  I backed it with a piece of foam for dimension and added a doily and a floral cut out from white paper.  To the top of the photo in the white space area, I added two super cute x & o paper clips, a speech bubble (with pop dots) and a dimensional glitter heart.

Next, I moved onto my title.  I originally had the title with all the cute pink Thickers, and then I found the chipboard la la la love you a piece which fit in the love spot perfectly!  In my opinion, it adds a unique spin to the title.  I finished up the page by adding silver glittered hearts, chipboard hearts, puffy sticker hearts and also sprinkled on some of the confetti paper hearts included in the collection.

I love that this page is just about love and great for any time of the year, but made using a Valentine collection!  Thank you so much for letting me share my page today!!

New Year Decor – Crate Paper

December 28, 2018

Hello!  Lorilei here today in the final days of 2018!  I have a easy to make home decor project that will ring in the New Year with an enthusiastic outlook!  I have had the best year creating with Crate Paper and feel so lucky each and every day!  My scrappy sign uses alphabets from all the Crate Paper collections I have used in 2018 which is a fun reflection on the year for me!  It is a great way to use up some alphabet stash too!!

I started out with a heavy piece of white cardstock and trimmed it down to 11×11 and then added a sheet of 12×12 paper from Wild Heart behind it.  Who doesn’t need some animal print in their creative space?  I gathered my chipboard and foam Thickers from Good Vibes, Wild Heart, Flourish and Willow Lane.  I also included the gorgeous glittery copper foam word Thickers from Wild Heart.

The first item I place on the sign was the Memories glitter foam.  I used my t-square ruler for each line of “text” so that it would be straight!  This gave me the spacing for every other line so that I could create a centered sign.  The first line uses Willow Lane alphas, Line 2 – Wild Heart, Line 3 – Flourish + Willow Lane, Line 4 – Willow Lane + Good Vibes, Line 5 – Wild Heart, Line 6 – Willow Lane.  At the bottom of the quote, I added the tassel banner chipboard from Good Vibes!

For finishing touches, I added a rosette Stand Out from Wild Heart, black epoxy stars from Good Vibes, copper glitter stars from Wild Heart and puffy gold stars from the Willow Lane Decorative Trim.  This little sign makes me happy and is a great reminder that no matter what we go through in a year, there are new possibilities every day for new memories, new lessons in life, new vibes to experience and new moments to document and cherish.

I wish you the very best that 2019 has to offer each and every day.

December Challenge – Pinkfresh Studio

December 2, 2018

Hello!! It’s time for the December Pinkfresh Studio Challenge!  I’d love for you to play along!  You can find the details and how to enter on the Pinkfresh blog under the challenge tab.

This is the layout I came up with for the challenge using the Holiday Vibes collection from Pinkfresh Studio.  I started out with a poinsetta cut file and decided to use the reds and greens from the challenge to go with my photo.  You can stick to all the colors provided in the challenge or use it as a jumping off point!  Holiday Vibes has gorgeous colors and makes crafting super easy!

I decided to back my largest flower and leave the other two white, I love the look of white on white for texture and dimension.  I added an enamel sticker to the bottom flower center and a die cut to the top flower center.

I had a leftover rosette from making my December folio so I included it on this layout.  I stacked it on top of two die cuts and it made the perfect focal point beside my photo!

To finish off the layout I added a sentiment from the cut apart paper “Very Merry” under my photo, I sprinkled some enamel dots around the page for extra tiny pops of color!

I hope you find time and inspiration to join the fun challenge, Thanks for stopping by today!

Blessings Mixed Media – Felicity Jane

November 24, 2018

I was in the mood to get my sprays and paints out for a layout!  The Felicity Jane Amber kit has gorgeous colors so I followed the color choices in the embellishments!

I sprayed and splattered and misted through stencils for my background.  Once the sprays were dry I swiped on some black gesso.  I love the leaf print stamps in the Amber Stamp Set and used them more for pattern and texture than to stamp out a leaf.  You can see the black lines and black dots in certain areas.  I also used the Essentials Mini Stamp 2 for more texture and interest.

I layered papers and tags under my photo and added a white stitched heart on top, I adhered two of the leaves from the Amber die cuts as dangles from the heart threads!

Loads of lovely layers!!  I added a leftover cut file scallop, the Amber washi tape and some die cut tabs around the edges of the photo layers to create dimension!

I love how the layout turned out!  The blessings die cut was the perfect finishing touch with a few more of the labels added!  It was fun to make a mess!

The Best Journey – Felicity Jane

November 9, 2018

Hello!  So happy to share a new layout with you today!  I have been eyeing up the journey die cut from the Hannah kit, and finally had a good idea of what I could do with it!  I love the long quote about the best kind of journey, and it gave me the perfect opportunity to get my stash of Felicity Jane alphabet stamps out!

My first step was to do some planning for my page.  Usually, I wing everything, but this time I sorted it all out first!  I laid out my photo and the journey die cut and then drew some light pencil lines above and below those two pieces.  I used my t-square ruler to make sure my lines were straight!  Next, I started stamping.  I used a combination of the  Bold Alpha Stamp, Basics Lowercase Stamp Set and the Outline Alpha Stamp Set.  I didn’t plan out which stamp set would go where I just mixed and matched, however, they looked best.  Once I got to the line for the word questions, I decided to use two alphas to make that word.  The chipboard alpha in black is one of my favorite alphas!

Once I had all my title stamping done, I turned to the Hannah stamp set and used the gorgeous floral bunch stamp to add some detail around the page.  I stamped it twice under the photo on each side and hanging off the edge at the top and bottom of the page.  To finish off the background, I added some swipes of pink paint for a pop of color!

Next, I added some plain white paper, a doily and some foam to my photo and adhered it in its spot; I added the super pretty rose die cut from the Lola kit and the black circle with the heart just above the photo.  I cut my layout down to 1o” wide.

On the left side of the layout, I added the black and white floral paper from Lola, I left the yellow branding strip on the paper for an extra pop of color, and it picks up the tiny amount of yellow in the rose die cut.  I stamped the questions and answers stamp from the Hannah stamp set on an extra piece of paper and tucked it into the side along with a scrap of blue gingham paper!  I adore Felicity Jane alpha stamp sets, for me they are a must have stash item!

Thanks so much for joining me today, I appreciate it!

You a Maze Me – Paige Evans + Silhouette

November 7, 2018

Hello!  Thanks for joining me today!  I have a new layout using Paige’s Maze Background cut file (Design ID #267505) and a few of Paige’s collections from Pink Paislee, including Turn the Paige, Oh My Heart and Fancy Free!

I started the layout by cutting the maze from white cardstock.  I reduced the size of the maze to about 10″x10″ so I would have a wider border around the edge.  I got the bright idea that I wanted the whole maze background to have a  nice deep shadow, so I spent a bit of time adding foam tape and foam dots all around the backside of the background.  I didn’t add foam to every piece, just the key areas to hold it all up nicely.

My embellishing came next!  I had chosen the title before anything else; you can see how amazing I am at titles 🙂  One of my favorite things to do is to mix the alphas from all of Paige’s collections, it just looks so fun and whimsical!  After I chose a photo of my daughter doing homework, I decided to go with a star theme and picked out all the stars from the Turn the Page chipboard stickers!  I used a journal piece from Fancy Free to ground the top cluster and make a great starting spot for my title.

I added the start here chipboard from Turn the Page at the bottom of the layout.  I thought it would be super cute to have it pointing to the little star peg that I added into the maze.  I popped on a few more stars around the chipboard and also added a star paper clip from Turn the Page!  To make the little star peg I tucked an eyelet (not squished) under the cut file background paper in one of the grooves then I glued a gold star to the top of the eyelet!

Paige’s cut files can be used so many ways!  Even though I kept the background very simple on this layout, it inspired the whole page and the meaning behind the photo for me!

Love to Be at Home – Paige Evans + Silhouette

October 29, 2018

Hello!!  Lorilei here today sharing my first layout with the new collection “Whimsical” by Paige Taylor Evans & Pink Paislee!  Whimsical is fantastic!!  I love the colors, the artsy-crafty theme and the slight vintage touch to some of the papers and ephemera!  I knew right away which cut file of Paige’s to choose for my first time using Whimsical, the “Oh How She Loved To Be Home” cut file (Design ID 270668).

I started by cutting the cut file from Paper 5 on my Silhouette Cameo 3.  Next, I added a border to the cut file (.125) and cut the border from white cardstock.  I used liquid glue to adhere the words to the white border piece.  I left some of the edges of the patterned words unglued for dimension and shadow.  While the cut file was drying, I used my Vicki Boutin Art Crayons and made custom mixes to match the colors in Whimsical.  I used the packaging technique to add the paint to the white cardstock background.

I chose to use a photo of my crafty space, I love to be home and especially love to be in my craft room!  I backed the photo with a piece of green floral paper from the Whimsical 6×6 paper pad, some tissue paper, and a doily.  I popped up the photo cluster on some craft foam.

I tucked the photo into the cut file spot above the L, seemed like a perfect fit!  I fussy cut the floral from the 6×6 paper pad, added one of the GORGEOUS-MUST HAVE tassels to the edge of the photo and a piece of chipboard that says “Dream Plan Create” above the tassel clip.

To finish off my page, I used quite a few rub-ons!  They are the cutest designs and are the perfect way to add interest to cluster or feature areas.  I added three tiny hearts to the bottom right above the washi tape and chipboard ruler, scallop rub-ons under the left edge of the photo, a floral rub-on under the fussy cut flowers and three perfectly pink hearts near the top right of my photo!

Thank you for joining me today, be sure to pair Paige’s cut files and Whimsical for a fun way to be creative!

Clever Like a Fox – Felicity Jane

October 26, 2018

The Felicity Jane October – Hannah Kit has the most amazing color palette!  The soft pink mixed with navy and wood grain is unique and fresh!  Friends, it was all I could do to cut into the wood grain paper, but I had to because I knew it would make the cutest fox ever!

I started my page by cutting the Felicity Jane Fox cut file from the Woodgrain & Scales and the solid soft pink papers.  I stitched around the fox in co-ordinating floss using all six strands. For the nose and eyes, I used a black sharpie to color the white cardstock.  I added a sweet Hannah Tulle Bow on the fox for a finishing touch!

Once I decided on a spot for my photo and fox I added paint splatters to a white background.  Next, I added a very “clever” title using the Hannah Perfect Pink Epoxy Alphabets.  I love these alpha’s; they are just the slightest bit transparent and a lovely font!  I added some machine stitching under the alphabets for a bit of messy texture.  Next up I tucked in my fussy cut florals from the Floral & Dot paper.  These little bouquets of flowers are so great for layering!  I also added one just beneath Foxy’s bow for a whimsical touch!

To finish off the layout, I added a few more fussy cut florals, scattered epoxy hearts around my layered areas and stamped the date using my FJ Roller Date Stamp on the gorgeous shiny copper label!

Thank you for joining me today!  Be sure to check out the Felicity Jane cut files at the Silhouette store and the gorgeous Hannah Kit!

This Life Flower Layout – Paige Evans + Silhouette

October 11, 2018

Hello!  Today I have a layout featuring one of my favorite things – flowers!  I used Paige’s Folk Art Flower Group (Design ID #271160). You get a lot of bang for your buck with this cut file as it has multiple flowers and leaves!

I decided to use Pick Me Up for my layout.  The colors remind me of fall, and the deep pink/red goes beautifully with my photo!  I did some customizing with the cut files; I made 4 of the main flowers in 4 consecutively smaller shapes so that I could stack them up and have a dimensional flower.  I also cut a large one (approx 5″) for a focal flower.  I cut two from pink/red paper (Paper 11), one from navy (Paper 3) and a cheery yellow flower (Paper 7) I cut the different leaves all from the teal paper (Paper 13).

I arranged all my flowers into a design on the page first.  I then added the photo and began tucking in the leaves.  It seemed easier to add the leaves this way to see where they looked best!.  Once I had the flowers and leaves arranged, I decided I needed some paint in the background.  I puddled paint around the leaves with a brush and then added some splatters as well!  I added rubon flowers, chipboard, and stickers from Pick Me Up for my finishing touch!

She Loves 2 Dance – Felicity Jane

September 29, 2018

One of the things I love about Felicity Jane is all the black and white that comes in the kits!  Most of the Lola papers have a black and white pattern on the back.  Mixing with pink and mint with black and white is such a fab combination!

I started out my page with some black gesso spread over the white cardstock in rough swipes.  I added a branding strip, a piece of pink cardstock with a scallop and a Felicity Jane scallop cut file from white cardstock in a vertical cluster.

For my photo area, I layered up pretty papers and a journal card and tucked in the pink fringe from the Lola kit with a couple other scallops I made on my silhouette.  The little black hearts were stamped with the Lola stamp set and I punched some hearts from paper I had painted with pink paint.  The gorgeous polka dot and mini puffy alpha finished off my page!

You Got This – Paige Evans

September 24, 2018

The one thing I love about scrapbooking and it is particularly prevalent when I get ready to make a layout with Paige’s cut files is the mystery of what I will make!! That might sound a bit silly, but I find it fun to just stumble across something that speaks to me at that moment and go with it!  Looking through Paige’s cut file shop at the Silhouette store is like browsing through a candy shop.  The files say “pick me,” for this layout, I chose the Flowers Cut File (Design ID #268655) and cut it from white cardstock.

I decided to get out my Vicki Boutin mixed media goodies and paint up a background.  I wanted the flowers to stand out, and I could have painted the flowers and put them on a white background, and I think they would have looked stunning that way too!  I used colors from my photo and some pretty gold texture paste.  I love the fall colors, and I was also inspired by the little 2×2 paper from Turn the Page.

I added stickers around the layout from the Turn the Page sticker book and some stamps in black ink for some more texture.

I decided to paint the flower centers black and outline the petals with sketchy black lines so the flowers would pop even more!  I added foam dot adhesive for dimension.  I am really happy with how my layout turned out.  This flower cut file is really gorgeous and I am sure I will cut it again and try painting the flowers!

Autumn Beauty – Crate Paper

September 24, 2018

Hello!  Happy Fall!  Autumn is one of my favorite seasons!  I love it when the temperatures get cooler and the changing colors get me every time!  Willow Lane has such warm pretty colors, it was perfect for my fall photo!

I knew for sure I wanted to die cut some leaves from the papers in Willow Lane.  I chose the pretty greens, and deep navy in the Willow paper and the tiny leaf pattern was a special bonus! I also used the Meadow and Frolic paper to die cut leaves for all the fall colors!

The Together paper is stunning!!  It seems like it was made for Autumn layouts with the gorgeous gold hand sketched florals and leaves.  I chose it for my background and love how it looks!   I chose a photo I had taken a couple of years ago at my Dad’s farm.  The horses were quite curious about what we were up to!  It was a typical Canadian chilly, rainy fall day and the colors of the trees and crop with the horses was too beautiful to miss taking a photo of!

My layout came together quite easily.  I settled on the large pink chipboard rose as my focal point and scattered my leaves in a diagonal from the rose.  To anchor the photo and scattered leaves, I found the hello tag in the buttery yellow color and one of the sweet tags from the Journaling Ephemera pack.  I added the Happy Little Moments paper from the Melody paper on top of the tag pocket.  I couldn’t believe my luck when I found the red label in the ephemera pack, and it was the perfect spot for a small title using the green alpha from the Alpha Sticker Pack, the cute little fox puffy sticker was the perfect finishing touch for the label!

Once I had the bigger items all adhered I looked through the collection again and found the florals and leaves in the Waterfall Sticker book that were perfect to tuck into the larger florals.  I adhered the leaves just at the tip so they would stay dimensional and added a pop dot to the center of the sticker flowers.  A gold chipboard heart and leaf sprig was the perfect finishing touch for the layout!!

Thank you for stopping by today!!
