Favourite Shows Pocket Page Travelers Notebook Insert – Freckled Fawn

March 10, 2020

I was sent a super cool 6×8 Pocket Page Insert for my 6×8 Traveler’s Notebook from Freckled Fawn!  I wasn’t quite sure what direction to go with the insert and then it occurred to me to make some pages about our favourite shows!  I have been wanting to document the shows we watch as a family for my daughter for some time now, so I dove in!

I collected some images from the interwebs for the shows that we are watching or have watched and printed them on 4×6 photo paper.  I prefer to make 3×4 cards and have photos in the 4×6 spots!

The supplies I used are the Freckled Fawn kits from Sept 2019 – Feb 2020.  It was great to pick items from the kits that matched the photos and SO easy to mix and match all the kits!  I used my 3 alpha stamps from Freckled Fawn and a Currently Watching stamp set from Elle’s Studio I also used my big roller date stamp from Studio Calico!

The title page turned out cute!

I did some repeat stamping on the filler card for The Flash!

I used the colours from the different FF kits to inspire the spreads!

My daughter Hannah got a kick out of the chipboard sentiments I added to the photos!

For the Batwoman page, I mostly used the December FF kit!

I was pretty excited about my tone on tone stamping for the Glee date card!  I really had a lot of fun making these pages!

Kept it simple on the Twilight spread!

Freckled Fawn has great enamel shapes!!

Last spread inspired by the teals in the paper!  Thanks so much for having a look today!

Magical Forest Double Page – Crate Paper

March 5, 2020

Hello, Crate Paper friends! It’s Lorilei here with you today, sharing a double-page spread using the gorgeous and whimsical Magical Forest collection!  The Magical Forest collection is just so cheerful and happy, and I found myself being inspired by rainbows!

I started the two-page spread with the large layout (right side) I thought that would set the tone for both pages to flow together.  There are so many papers I love in the collection, so I trimmed my white background down to 10″x10″ to layer pretty papers behind it!  I chose a large photo (4″x6″) and built the page around the photo.  I had plenty of white space on the photo and the rainbow tag I cut from the Sunlight paper fit perfectly there.  The tag became the theme for both pages!

I layered a strip of Sunlight paper behind the photo and embellished the page with a large clear sticker (Oh My Darling Make Your Own Magic) and the dream stamp from the Magical Forest Stamp Set.  I added the Make Believe banner and shimmery heart from the Magical Forest Ephemera pack to finish off the tag!

Next up, I tackled the left side of the double-page spread.  I should let you know that I have not made very many double pages!  This is my fifth time!  They do flow so nicely in an album!  I decided to approach the design of the page as though it was a pocket page.  I trimmed another piece of the Sunlight (rainbow) paper as a 4″x6″ card I also trimmed the Willow cut-apart paper to serve as my “pocket” cards.  TO further customize the cards, I used the base of the B card from the Willow paper and popped up the inside of the rainbow card on top.  Next, I went through the ephemera pack and pulled out bits and pieces to further enhance the feeling I was looking for!  I chose the Rise and Shine die-cut for my top main card.

I embellished my photos here and there with labels, word strips and the sweet copper puffy alpha stickers.  I added a bit of stitching to the spread for texture and a stitched white heart to each spread for more texture and dimension.

This was most certainly a fun project to work on; it is a great way to incorporate more photos and stories.  I love the way the pages are very different and go together so well, using a single collection makes easier work of achieving a nice flow!

Thank you so much for joining me today!

6×8 Scrapbook Layout – Freckled Fawn

March 2, 2020

I realized last week that I have never actually made a scrapbook layout in the 6×8 size!  I have tried almost every other size and always admired the 6×8 layouts I have seen, so I thought I would give it a go!

I used my February 2020 Freckled Fawn kit for the layout.  I stacked up some papers and punched book pages I had sitting around from another project on the background.  I lightly adhered the papers and then stitched through them using my sewing machine.

Next I added my photo with a doily and a cut file for extra texture.  I kept the embellishments pretty light and featured the wood veneer heart on my photo with a label and chipboard word strip!  A few enamel dots finished off the page!

I love how this little page turned out!  I will add it to my super cool 6×8 Scrapbook Insert for my 6×8 Traveler’s Notebook from Freckled Fawn!

Junk Journal – Crate Paper and Maggie Holmes Heritage

February 28, 2020

Hello Crate Paper friends!  Lorilei here today sharing a Junk Journal style memory book with the new Heritage collection by Maggie Holmes and Crate Paper!  To say I fell in love with Heritage would be an understatement!  The colors and feel of the collection just hit me when I opened it.  I do love vintage, and Heritage combines vintage with a modern, fresh feel!

Right away, I knew I wanted to make a journal or a mini album about my Grandma.  I decided on mixing both together and used an old vintage book as my base.  I removed the pages from the book and added some masking tape and fabric to the spine for a vintage handmade feel.  My daughter made me some pom-poms to dangle on the spine in matching yarn colors to Heritage.  I stacked up fabric and papers and made a little pocket for the cute tags on the Recollection cut apart sheet.  On the top of the pocket, I tied one of the sweet charms with a dyed ribbon for the perfect finishing touch to the cover.

On the inside of the journal, I worked back and forth between building the pages, making tags, and going through the pretty ephemera and stationery packs. I decorated the inside cover by adding the Keepsake paper and some photo corners from the sticker book.  I made two pockets from a file folder and decorated them with photo and more cut apart tags.   I added one of the sentiments from the Lifetime paper that I fussy cut.

The tag “junk” part of the journal is built on 3 folded strips of paper that I adhered the tags and ephemera to.  The junk book then slips onto an elastic. Much like a traveler’s notebook, I did this so that I could add to the journal as I write in it.  On the first page of the junk insert, I used my favorite paper – Elsie.  I adore the bunches of flowers and the gorgeous lavender color.  I have a few Aunties that are called Elsie or have Elsie as their middle name, so that made me love it more!  I added another charm to the first tag so that I would see it every time I opened the book!

You can see the junk spine system in the photo below.  It’s a great way to show all the layers and goodies!  I made another tag from the Family Tree paper with the lovely blue floral, another favorite!  I added a lot of eyelets to the tags in this journal, to make them feel more special!

Heritage has a beautiful paper called Trophies with many prize ribbons on it with touches of gold foil!

On this page, I attached one of the Heritage Boxed Cards and stitched on two sides and the bottom to use it as a pocket.  The cards are lovely with the tiny prints from the 12×12 papers!

I added half of a different boxed card on the backside of the card to go with the pages next to it!

I love the vellum and ephemera with the home sentiments on them!

These pages are simple with a pretty ephemera card and the clear leaf stickers from the sticker book!

On this page, I made another tag from paper and then I made a pocket and tag inspired by the one that comes in the Stationery Pack!

Close up!  Love the floral on the Margaret paper!

That is the end of my tag “junk” insert and the cover of my journaling insert made from tea dyed and vintage papers.  I made a paper pocket for the cover and added another fussy cut sentiment and a prize ribbon!

Thank you SO much for making it through this long, photo heavy post!  I had so much to share, and if you are anything like me, you love to see all the bits in a project!  I will cherish my journal and write in it when I remember a story about my Grandma!  Be sure to check out all the loveliness about Heritage; it is a collection full of beauty!

Magical Forest Mini Album – Crate Paper

February 21, 2020

Hello Crate Paper friends!  Today I have a super sweet mini album using the gorgeous Magical Forest collection.  Magical Forest is whimsical with such lovely colors and characters!  It made mini album making super easy!

I made my 3.5″x 4.5″ album from with chipboard, I covered the outside with my favorite paper – Wildflower.  Inside I added the Imaginary paper.  I love the combination!  I decided to add a book ring to the back cover to house a tag flip-style mini album.

I had to use this sweet little girl sticker on the front cover, I gave her a place to “live” with the grow like a wildflower die-cut and a small label on the bottom.  I added the pink fabric bow to the top of the spine for extra cuteness!  I love the addition of special embellishments that Crate Paper adds to the collections!

Inside I stacked up all kinds of “pages” onto the ring.  First is a sweet rainbow tag and butterfly from the Magical Forest ephemera pack.

Next, I used the library card, the Park Thickers alpha and a sticker that just happened to be the perfect one for my photos.  Hannah was 8 in these photos!

I used ephemera and cut-apart cards from the Willow paper for the photos.  I added cute little flower stickers from the Magical Forest Sticker Book to the photos.

I made a few tags from vellum and decorated them with stickers from the Sticker Book to make an overlay for the photos below the vellum.  Love how they turned out!

I can tell that the Park Thickers will be one of my favorite alphas this year!

I made a pocket with a smaller tag that pulls out and decorated the front with the squirrel sticker and a few more flower stickers!  I love the sweet characters in this collection!

Another vellum overlay using clear stickers!

I haven’t made a mini this size before and I adore how cute and little it is!  It is fun to hold and flip through and the perfect size for the gorgeous cut-parts and ephemera included in Magical Forest.

Magical Forest is a dream to create with.  I definitely love how this mini turned out and I think you will love this collection too!

I ended up getting out Felicity Jane, my random pink stash bin and some Heidi Swapp PL cards and a few black alphas from my stash.  I had loads of fun, but there is a huge mess to clean up!! Thanks for stopping in!

Valentine Coloring Cards – Crate Paper

February 7, 2020

Hello Crate Paper friends, happy February!  I have some super fun Valentine cards today that are perfect to give to anyone who loves to color! They are also great just as they are!  I used the new Magical Forest stamp set, I adore the little critters and it has great sentiments for Valentines!

To make the cards I cut white cardstock for 4.25″ x 5.5″ cards.  I then designed a heart shape onto the same size rectangle and cut it out on my Silhouette.  This gave me a “mask” to place on top of my card to stamp in.  I clipped the mask onto the card with three paperclips to hold it in place.  Before stamping I traced around the inside of the heart with a fine tip black marker for a nice finished edge.

Next up is to stamp away!  I stamped the largest images first so that I could have a nice placement.  I then filled in open spots with smaller stamps, making sure that I stamped onto the side of the heart (onto the mask) so the heart would look full once the mask was removed.

I can tell you that I couldn’t stop making cards!  I love how they look and mixing and matching with the stamp set, gives you so many different looks!  I think that these cards would be great any time of year as well!  For a variation, you could include stickers or chipboard inside the heart as well.

I coloured a card with some coloring pencils to see how it looked, you could color in the images before giving the card or include a package of brand new pencils as a small gift with the card!  Watercolor markers and markers would be fun too!  The great thing is that you can customize the colors to the person you are giving it too, I can totally see the cards colored with rainbow colors!

Thank you so much for joining me today!  Happy Heart Day!

Altenew January 2020 Stamp/Die/Stencil Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

January 24, 2020

I am super thrilled to be a part of the Altenew January Blog Hop!  I have lots of projects to share using the new releases and Altenew has prizes to give away!  You can find all the details and the start of the Blog Hop HERE at the Altenew blog. You would have arrived here from Laurie’s blog!

I chose some gorgeous floral stamps and a super versatile title and sentiment stamp to work with!  I was surprised at how easy it was to use the layers in the stamp sets to achieve such a gorgeous floral!

Here is the full reveal of the release!  You can find every detail on this Altenew page.

For my first project, an 8.5×11 scrapbook page, I used the Simple Beauty Stamp Set and Die.  I also used the Floral 6 MIni Cube set for my floral and for the “paint” on the background.  I simply stamped the ink pad onto packaging, spritzed a bit of water and flipped the packaging over onto my layout!  I inked a piece of cardstock with the dark pink ink and then die cut the hugs word from the Hello and Hugs Die Set.

Close up of the layout.

My next project is two cards.  I love how they turned out!  I used the Hello and Hugs Die Set to cut the thinner words from black cardstock and I also die cut the larger outline from white cardstock and adhered them together!  On the hello card I stamped the floral cluster directly onto the background and then stamped the Simple Beauty Floral separately for dimension.

Close up of the hugs card!

For my last project, I made a traveler’s notebook spread with Simple Beauty, Retro Plantines and Hello and Hugs.  I used the Floral 6 MIni Cube set for stamping.  I just love how all the products work together!

Prizes:

Snow Fun Mixed Media Layout using Snowflake – Crate Paper

January 24, 2020

Hello, Crate Paper friends! Today my assignment was to make a creative layout. Naturally, for me, that means getting the mixed media out. I love how my page turned out, and as usual, with mixed media, it looks like a hot mess in the process!

I started my layout with blank white card stock, I added clear gesso and let it dry. I decided to focus on the greens in the Snowflake collection, and the blue from my photo. I began with a deep green watercolour paint, and scraped it onto the card stock with a palette knife. Once that had dried for a few minutes, I scraped on turquoise/sky blue acrylic paint. My next step was to use the snowflakes from Snowflake stamp set to add scatters in snowflakes in blues and greens around the painted area. To finish up the paint, I added a gold glaze with the end of a pencil in random dots and blue and gold splatters.

Once the background had thoroughly dried, I placed my photo and title on the painted area. I cut the “snow” title on my Silhouette. I adhered my large photo over the O. I created a journal tag and layered a large metallic die cut snowflake, a deep green snowflake, and a ticket die cut with a ribbon onto the tag. I tucked the tag beneath the photo and title on an angle. To soften the edge of the photo, I added a snowflake with a chipboard tree and tucked in a piece of the greenery from Snowflake

To add some final details, I scattered gold snowflake stickers around the focal points of the layout. I added a small title using the Thickers from the Heritage collection.

It was fun to give myself the creative challenge of using colours I don’t normally use. I love the combination of blue and dark green. Snowflake is a very versatile collection. Thanks so much for joining me today, I hope you find the opportunity to get creative with your layouts!

Mixed Media Traveller’s Notebook Spread – Vicki Boutin

January 9, 2020

I have a bright colourful spread in my TN to share today using a mix and match Vicki Boutin products!

I started out by “swiping” 5 of the ink wedges across the left side of my page.  I created a heart cut file in Silhouette and added it on top of the ink once it had dried.  I used the dots stamp on top of the cut-out hearts from the cut file to embellish the page along with stickers from the American Crafts Vicki Boutin sticker book!

I kept finding stickers that matched so well with the ink colours!  The arrows are so cute!

The right side of the spread has the leftover paper that I used under my “swiping” and stamping page.  It was a perfect match and artsy so why not stick it in!  I added a foam phrase from All the Good Things Thickers under my photo and continued to embellish with stamped hearts and stickers!

I love how bright and cheery my pages turned out.  This would be a fun technique to use on a scrapbook layout or in different ink colours!  Really simple and effective!

Scrappy Goals Layout – Crate Paper

January 8, 2020

Hi Crate Paper, friends! Happy New Year! I hope you found some time to craft during the holidays. Today I’m sharing a layout with some of my goals for 2020 using the Maggie Holmes Heritage collection.

I started my layout with blank white card stock; I used a stencil and ink on a dauber to get the pattern on to the background, I chose a mustard colour to coordinate with the Elsie paper from Heritage. Next, I added some splatters in gold and pink. Once the background was dry, I got to work on my title. I made my own “goals” title in Silhouette, I cut three words from white card stock, and one from the Elsie paper. I adhered all the words together to create a “chipboard” title.

Next, I created long, skinny tags from white card stock, first adding my journaling in Photoshop. I trimmed them to size and added hole protectors, and a black bow to each one. I adhered them to the layout with foam adhesive for a bit of dimension. Next, I added cute chipboard icons to each tag. The top tag for my craft room organization goal gets a chipboard star from Snowflake. I especially love the little camera on my photo’s goal tag. The final tag for my PL goal I added a sweet little book and a bird.

In the space between the title and the tags, I added a subtitle using the Comfort Thickers from Snowflake. To further embellish the title, I added a cluster using the chipboard Silhouette oval over top of the A, a star die cut from Snowflake, and a goals label from the Crate Paper Journal Studio sticker book. To finish it off I added a metallic chipboard star from Snowflake.

Thanks so much for joining me today! I encourage you to create something about your goals for 2020.

Citrus Twist Sunday Sketch – Dear Lizzy

January 5, 2020

Hello and Happy New Year friends!!  Today I am sharing a new layout using the Sunday sketch!  I am pretty sure I squealed a bit when I opened the January Scrapbooking Add-On kit!  It is fresh and gorgeous and so lovely to work with!

I decided to use the 8.5×11 sketch for a 12×12 layout.  I wanted to use loads of patterned papers!  I began with white card stock and trimmed papers at various widths and all 12″ long.  I stacked the papers and adhered the stack together.  Before I adhered the stack down I added a bit of mixed media on either side of the stack.

I spent some time fussy cutting flowers from the Dear Lizzy paper and then went to work on my title.  I used the Spencer Outline Stamp to stamp on pink paper and fussy cut the letters.  I added tiny white dots with a gel pen for a bit of pizazz!  I finished the title with the tiny blue Pinkfresh Alphas and the exclusive gorgeous pink foam alpha from Citrus Twist Kits.  I used the “This is Life” stamp set to add the cute hearts and the new Italic alpha stamp for the word love.

I love how my layout turned out.  The fresh fun colors were just what I needed for a bit of zip this time of year!  I’d love for you to use the sketch and see what you come up with!
