Did you all see the stunning paper fan garland made by Maggie Holmes that was recently shared on the Crate Paper blog and on Instagram? I knew the minute that I saw it, that I needed one! The back wall of my “office” has been bare and waiting for something fabulous, so off to work I went!
I chose papers from the Maggie Holmes Willow Lane collection for my banners. I fiddled around with a couple of old pieces of 12×12 paper first before I started on the Willow Lane papers. I decided to change up the instructions slightly and ended up using 1 – 12×12 paper and 1 – 6×12 paper, the difference is that there are fewer folds at the top of the paper where it attaches to the ribbon. Using the full two pieces worked great as well, just a personal preference!
I made 15 paper fans and even ended up piecing together the 6×12 cut offs that I had leftover. I think they are my favorite! Fan making went pretty quickly once I figured out which adhesive was going to work best. My glue gun is on the fritz, it would have been the simplest to use. I ended up using my Scotch Adhesive in a Fineliner bottle and some Aleene’s Tacky Glue. Both dry really quickly so that helped keep production up!
I LOVE how the garland turned out and it adds so much color and whimsy to my space. It is a really cool way to be able to use and see all the pretty papers that Maggie Holmes and Crate Paper design. You can download the full instruction sheet in the Crate Paper blog post, it really is a simple project and is so unique for a party or everyday decor! Treat yourself to a crafty day and be sure to share your project on IG using Crate Paper with the #createwithcrate hashtag!
Thanks for stopping in today!
Hi Lorilei! Your crafting space is gorgeous! Love the spareness and the banner pops off the white wall so beautifully! Love your garland, and the multi-coloured ones are my favourite ! I’m scouting my craft room to see where I can hang just, ‘one more thing’ 😀 Maybe it’s time to edit. Cheers dear!
Hi Kelly!! Thanks so much for stopping by and a big Thanks for your comment. I actually hung it in my “office” space as my craft room suffers the same condition as yours with full walls 🙂
