Hello! I went circle crazy this week on my layout! I love using circles on a layout, as it gives you a free-flowing feel and endless opportunities for design!
I am using my stash of Vicki Boutin goodies this week, the wonderful thing about stencils and stamps is that you can keep coming up with new ways to get lots of use out of them!
I started my background by using the Vicki Boutin Circle Stencil, Mixed Media Stencil Brush and a blue Art Crayon. I scribbled the Art Crayon onto an acetate sheet and swirled my dry stencil brush into the scribble. The stencil brush picks up the art crayon beautifully! I then stencilled onto my white cardstock. To add a bit of interest, I used a pink art crayon with the kissing/packaging technique in a few spots. The stencilled blue reactivated with the pink kissing to make a third pretty lavender colour! I mixed some extra water into the leftover pink paint and added some splatters.
While my background was drying, I stamped loads of circles, using a Vicki Boutin stamp set and fussy cut them. I also decided to make some “painted” circles and scribbled Art Crayon on top of a circle stamp and stamped it onto white cardstock. I fussy cut those painted circles when they dried.
A small tip for you – When you are cleaning up your stencils, stamps and brushes, clean them onto extra papers and tags. They make a great base for extra mixed media or “free” papers and tags to make cards or add to layouts!
Once all my bits and background were dry, I began adding items to my layout. I started with a long vertical line of circles going behind my photo. The great thing about using repeating shapes is that you can add so many layers without it getting too “cluttered.”
To make apace for a cute title, I added a bit more stenciling to either side of my photo to the edge of the background. I used the puffy title and chipboard arrow from the Color Kaleidoscope collection for a punch of black! I spotted all the holographic chipboard stars and added them to the centers of some of the circles for a bit of sparkle!
Thank you so much for joining me today! Remember to get out your stash of Vicki Boutin goodies and have fun with them!
