Heart Eyes – Crate Paper

I traveled to Palm Desert, CA in April to visit my girlfriend.  I took a lot of photos of her gorgeous desert garden.  I love cacti and succulents so it was right up my alley.   It is funny to me how many of my travel photos end up being of plants, flowers, trees, and sunsets!  I suppose I take many plant photos at home too; I just love plant photos!!  I chose one of the photos of a pretty cactus to make a layout about.  The Wild Heart collection by Crate Paper is SO perfect for these types of photos!

I decided to string tags on some white bakers twine, I have made similarly designed layouts, but I just love the look!  Once I had made my tag decisions I used my Vicki Boutin Art Crayons and puddled some watercolor behind where each tag would go.  I used a custom mix of pinks and yellow and teal.  Once the puddles had dried, I went back in and added tiny splatter drops in the same colors.

I kept the embellishments on the tags pretty simple.  They are so beautifully designed they made a big impact just as they were!  A few stickers, some gold hearts, a paperclip and the alpha, finished the layout off perfectly!

Sunkissed TN – Hip Kit Club

This week at the Hip Kit Club my assignment was to only use the main kit from June 2018!  The kits are packed full of goodies so it definitely makes it easy!  I decided to make a spread in my scrappy Traveler’s Notebook!

I decided to go with a grid design and chose 2-3 colors to work with, when there are so many choices I find that choosing a scheme up front helps me get something made!  I focused on the warm tones from the Pinkfresh Studio Simple and Sweet collection.  I added the Vicki Boutin stamp from the June 2018 Color Kit to the Pinkfresh frame.  Love this stamp set!!

I did dip into the June 2018 Project Life kit for two of the cards, I couldn’t resist the sun card and sweet floral print.  The cards are great in TN for their small size patterns.

Hello Glasses – Hip Kit Club

My assignment this week was to use mixed media + a cut file.  Two of my favorite things!  I chose the super fun glasses in one of the May 2018 Cut Files and made it bigger before I cut it. I got out the May 2018 Color Kit featuring the Vicki Boutin stamps and paints and got busy!

I did simple swipes of 3 colors of paint with a big brush and let the background dry.  I love that the paint marks show, definitely adds lots of texture!  While the paint was drying, I stamped circles from the stamp set.  I used round punches to punch out the circles and realized I loved the papers that were left over, so I kept those to use on my layout.

I painted the glasses with black paint and then backed the “lenses” with vellum.  Super cute how the layers below still show through the glasses!  I layered my punched circles with messy black thread and then started to adhere everything to the background.

I mixed in a few items from the Simple Stories chipboard sheet and added a few yellow enamel dots and called it done!

June Junque Journal – Vicki Boutin Mixed Media

I decided to take part in Vicki Boutin’s Junque Journal Summer Camp challenge.  You can find all the challenges in her Vicki Boutin Mixed Media Community on Facebook.  I had been chomping at the bit to get started, but it’s been a busy first part of June with tests for school etc.  So on Thursday I found some time to get started and then I couldn’t stop!  I thought I would share my pages and any notes about the products I used.  The post is very image heavy!!  I am using all Vicki Boutin Mixed Media Supplies.  I have added some blank tags and a sharpie marker from my stash.  I also used cut files from Just Nick and Paige Evans to decorate!

Swatch of the acrylic paints.

Another swatch of the paints and the fx glazes.

Love these flip out pages!

I added in extra tags I had made while playing around.  I used the VB stamps on this tag and then added glossy accents over the dots!

I had another swatch tag and had to include it!

I added a kraft envelope since I didn’t have any of the kraft inserts.

The Next Chapter – Pink Fresh Studio

Hello!  Today I am sharing my first layout for the Pinkfresh Studio blog! I am using the gorgeous Let Your Heart Decide collection. I chose the Spur patterned paper for my background and added some watercolor paint in a few spots to add a layer of softness.  I was drawn to the on to the next chapter banner and decided to make that the theme of my page!

Once I decided on the perfect spot for my photo I layered a stitched frame on top of the photo and a trail of beautiful ephemera, layered stickers and epoxy heart stickers that follows the lines in the background paper.  Using a paper with a defined pattern certainly helps make embellishing easy!

I added the “let your heart be your compass” circle at the top intersection of the Spur paper and used the beautiful puffy alpha for my title.  I love that there are so many color choices included for each letter in the alphas.  I was able to select the dominant colors in my background paper to keep the layout harmonic!

Found Myself – Hip Kit Club

Hello!  I am sharing a layout today that was made by just playing with all the gorgeous products in the March 2018 Hip Kits!  I didn’t have any specific assignment which was super fun!  I picked out most of the goodies from the Embellishment Pak and used them for my color scheme.

I piled up loads of Crate Paper ephemera and Pinkfresh Studio frames around my photo.

I love how the mixed media shows through the Pinkfresh Studio Be You frames!

I added some white paint and Vicki Boutin Irridescent glaze to the Pebbles Thickers to change the color!

Sunshine

We are off to our first dance competition today!  I took some photos of my daughter in her jazz solo costume on picture day weekend and thought they would be fun to scrap!  She is dancing to Walkin’ on Sunshine.  Very fun and cheery! I actually found the dress and yellow tutu on Amazon so I didn’t have to do too much work making a costume this year.

I had a few papers and tag I had made while playing with Vicki Boutin watercolors so I used that as my base and also made a layered butterfly from the painted paper.  The pink paint chip is from Crate Paper as is the black and white paper. I even busted out some Felicity Jane hearts to finish it off!

I love adding cut files cut from white cardstock for a soft layer!  The butterfly is my favorite!

I cut the title on my silhouette and added some typed journaling!

Sweet Little Things

I have been playing with the Vicki Boutin Watercolors and Irridescent Glaze that we received in the March 2018 Hip Kit!  I like to fiddle around with new mixed media goodies to get the hang of how they work and the way the colors dry.    This layout has a lot going on, sometimes I just like to let loose and use all the things!!  I cut quite a few of Paige’s Rolled Flowers (Design ID #238507) and painted them with Vicki’s watercolors.  The background paper is from Turn the Page and the black paper with white script is from Vicki Boutin’s All The Good Things collection.  This page was sure fun to make!

Painty puddles always make me happy!!

Paige’s rolled flower cut files are so versatile!  I cut them from white cardstock and paint them pretty colors!

I mixed the pink watercolor paint with the irridescent glaze and scraped it over a stencil for the big dots!

Blue China – Crate Paper

The moment I saw the pretty blue and white floral paper named Poetic in the Crate Paper Flourish collection I thought of my Aunt and her love of blue and white china.  I fussy cut every rose out of the Poetic paper, I knew I wanted them to be bountiful on the layout!  I also used a paper I had painted with Vicki Boutin’s Watercolors as inspiration and as a layer on the page.  I had to channel my inner Jill Sprott to include so many patterned papers and lengthy journaling!

At the last minute I added a small strip of paper with the row houses on it.  It tied in all the colors from the ephemera and went with the homey story!  I had started the layout with just blues and it all blended too much, the addition of a little bit of pink and yellow made it much more interesting!  It was so much fun to use so many papers.  I will definitely try it again!

I love how the roses play off of the watercolor behind them!  I kept my photos fairly simple since I knew I wanted a busy full background!

I cut so many tickets from the Always paper, Maggie Holmes usually includes lots of tickets and vintage feeling paper items in her collections.  They really fit well with the story on my page and tucked them in where all the papers overlapped.

Capture Life

I sat down with my gelli plate and made a big fun mess! I used my new Vicki Boutin Color Pop paints and a few other mixed media items like gesso, stencils, Heidi Swapp Gold Modeling Paste and Gold Colorshine.  I used green & blue Color Pop for one set of pages and purple, pink and mint for another set.

I had no intention for the pages but I knew a greenish one would make nice leaves and I can always use leaves!  Here are the papers I ended up making.

I had a large purple flower from the Vicki Boutin All The Good Things die cut pak that I had  been wanting to use, so I decided to make flowers and leaves from the papers using some Sizzix dies.  I pieced papers onto the sides of 8.5×11 cardstock to carry the mixed media fell onto the background! Here you can see the big purple flower clustered under the photo!

I love the black and white circles from the die cut pak and I used small flowers from the sticker book as centers for the flowers!
