Believe

I adore the Flower Vase (Design ID #217950) cut file by Paige Taylor Evans + Silhouette!  Honestly, I cut the file from white card stock and just pinned it up so I could look at it for a week, just as it was!  I kept my layout fairly simple by mounting my 4×6 photo on foam to pop it up and then tacking the cut file in just a couple spots with hot glue on the jar.  I then could lift up the floral area and add watercolor paint with a brush underneath the flowers and leaves.  It isn’t perfect, but I love the carefree look it gives!  I made a little cluster of embellishments using Turn the Page to represent a card on a floral pick (the kind in bouquets) a few paint splatters and voila!!

Then and Now

Over the years I have made a point of taking then and now photos.  I love to see how things and people have stayed the same and also how they’ve changed!  This week for my Hip Kit assignment I was to use the Crate Paper Interactive Journal cards and the Turn the Page Sticker book from the September 2017 Hip Kits.

My first step was to cut up the Crate Paper Label paper from the September Paper Kit and add stickers from the Turn the Page Sticker book to the labels.  I tucked the labels into the CP pockets for a fun little find when someone is looking at the layout.  I lightly added some paint and gold splatters to the background to soften all the square edges.  I typed my journaling onto the exclusive project life cards designed by Kimberly Hutchinson.

The mint card has a large opening at the top. I tucked in another journal card with a few labels. I decided to add my photo on top of the pocket.

The pretty yellow card has a gorgeous tag tucked into it, I added labels and a journal card from the Turn the Page Journaling Spot pack in the September 2017 Embellishment kit.  For my Now & Then titles I used the gorgeous gold Hip Kit Exclusive Alpha!

Scrapbook Expo

I am very thrilled to be featured on the Scrapbook Expo blog today!  As part of the feature you get the opportunity to create an exclusive layout!  I found a favorite autumn photo and used Oh My Heart by Paige Taylor Evans & Pink Paislee to make a pretty autumn page!  I cut leaves with a cut file from the Silhouette store and then punched little flowers with a Martha Stewart punch to use as sprinkles all around the layout!  I designed the title in photoshop and cut it with the silhouette.  I would LOVE for you to check out the post at Scrapbook Expo and see the layouts I chose as my favorites!!

Everyday

My assignment from Hip Kit Club this week was to make a layout using only the September 2017 Main Kit!  The Main Kit is packed full of gorgeous so this layout came together easily!

Once I decided on the photo I wanted to use, I started fiddling around and came up with a grid design.  I cut the pink sun ray card from the journal card paper and then added a piece from the chipboard.  I layered bits from the ephemera pack for the top and bottom pieces in the grid and used more ephemera to make the title “Everyday Wonderful Moments”.  I then added a few splatters to finish of the page!

Moments

I ADORE this layout!  Have you ever made a scrapbook page and then sat back and oohed and ahhed over it?  I did with this one.  I’m not sure if it was because of the work it took, or the colors or just the overall happy feeling.  Maybe, a combination of all those things!!

After I finished my mixed media layout with the Flower Garden Background Design ID #221367 I decided to back the cut file with Turn the Page papers! Just to note that when you use the cut file for a stencil it does get a coating of gel on it, but for me it was still fine to use after I let it dry thoroughly on a flat surface.  I started paper backing with the green leaves and set off from there.  Some of the “clusters” of flowers are with similiar colors and some are  individually done!  Hannah said to me, that if I proceeded to individually back all the little teeny circles she might have to look into checking out my sanity 🙂  For the smallest cuts I painted a piece of paper with Martha Stewart gold paint and cut it into the shapes to add sparkle!

I used Turn the Page to embellish my photo layers, having the two teal banners and teal word helps to define the photo area as the focus!

Trust the Timing

Paige has added a gorgeous new cut file design to her store this week!  It had been awhile since I went full out with the mixed media and I thought this was a great opportunity!
I cut the Flower Garden Background Design ID #221367 from white card stock.  I coated a 2nd piece of white card stock with clear gesso, after that dried laid the cut file down and scraped Prima 3D matte gel through the cut file and carefully removed it.  Once dried I used multiple mediums painted over the gel.  The gel acts as a resist and the paint puddles in the non raised parts of the texture.
I picked out the teal and yellow items from Turn the Page by Paige Taylor Evans & Pink Paislee.  I die cut some flowers to layer using a 12×12  and a 6×6 paper, I also die cut leaves from the pretty star paper.  The mint ribbon is a specialty ribbon from

Adventure

Recently my daughter has been studying for her drivers learner permit.  We have a road on our land where they put in the oil well and it is the perfect place for her to practice driving!  I definitely had to brace myself a bit for this new adventure in life!!  She did really great after a few crinkles with the brakes got ironed out!!

I think you could use the gorgeous Flower Background (Design ID #216723) by Paige Taylor Evans + Silhouette with just about any photo!  I used Paper 10 from Turn the Page by Paige Taylor Evans & Pink Paislee for the cut file.  I decided to keep my photo and embellishments to the left of the page, so I could still enjoy a lot of the background!  I let the fussy cut quote, journal card, chipboard and ephemera from Turn the Page tell the story for me!  I couldn’t resist digging into my white button stash to add a button to the centers of the flowers on the background!

Wonderful

I have a Hip Kit Club layout featuring the Turn the Page Stamp Set by Paige Taylor Evans & Pink Paislee found in the Hip Kit Club September 2017 Embellishment Kit! I stamped multiple flowers and leaves on white card stock and fussy cut them for my layout. I used one of the Hip Kit August Cut Files made by Kimberly Hutchinson as the base of the stamp flowers for extra dimension and color. I used plenty of gorgeous Turn the Page Journal tabs and Die Cuts to Jazz up the page!!

I used a photo of  a rare moment captured of my mom and dad 🙂 Hope you are inspired to make your own flowers with the Turn the Page stamp set!

Sunshine

My Grandma always use to sing the “You Are My Sunshine” song to me!  I love that the little paper clip banner from Turn the Page by Paige Taylor Evans & Pink Paislee has that sentiment on it!  There is also the word Sunshine in the Take Me Away Thickers, so my page was set!  I spritzed through a sunbeam stencil with Shimmerz Carribean Sunset and Sunset Strip sprays.  I then added messy stitching through each of the painted rays and sprinkled more paint dots.  To make the sunshine thicker title pop I painted it with gold paint and added some gold glitter.  Fussy cut butterflies from Turn the Page were the perfect embellishment!  I used one of my favorite photos of Hannah and I when she was a baby!

Painted title.

Pretty butterflies!

Wild Heart

In my opinion you can never go wrong with hearts!  The Stained Glass Heart cut file by Paige Taylor Evans + Silhouette is the perfect shape to showcase gorgeous papers!  I used Turn the Page by Paige Taylor Evans & Pink Paislee 6×6 papers to back each spot in the heart.  I simply flipped the heart upside down and traced the inside shape onto the back of the paper and then cut it a bit larger than the pencil outline.  I would glue in the shape after it was cut so I didn’t get it in the wrong spot!  I stitched in the middle of the white borders with my sewing machine and I also used the paper from the cut file leftover and stitched around the heart with messy stitches and cut it out, again just freehand messy!  To give the hearts definition from the background I ripped strips of paper and tucked them under the heart.  I embellished with fussy cut sparrows, a pretty gold title from Take Me Away, puffy stickers, ribbons and ephemera from Turn the Page!
