I ADORE this layout!  Have you ever made a scrapbook page and then sat back and oohed and ahhed over it?  I did with this one.  I’m not sure if it was because of the work it took, or the colors or just the overall happy feeling.  Maybe, a combination of all those things!!

After I finished my mixed media layout with the Flower Garden Background Design ID #221367 I decided to back the cut file with Turn the Page papers! Just to note that when you use the cut file for a stencil it does get a coating of gel on it, but for me it was still fine to use after I let it dry thoroughly on a flat surface.  I started paper backing with the green leaves and set off from there.  Some of the “clusters” of flowers are with similiar colors and some are  individually done!  Hannah said to me, that if I proceeded to individually back all the little teeny circles she might have to look into checking out my sanity 🙂  For the smallest cuts I painted a piece of paper with Martha Stewart gold paint and cut it into the shapes to add sparkle!

I used Turn the Page to embellish my photo layers, having the two teal banners and teal word helps to define the photo area as the focus!

Trust the Timing

Paige has added a gorgeous new cut file design to her store this week!  It had been awhile since I went full out with the mixed media and I thought this was a great opportunity!
I cut the Flower Garden Background Design ID #221367 from white card stock.  I coated a 2nd piece of white card stock with clear gesso, after that dried laid the cut file down and scraped Prima 3D matte gel through the cut file and carefully removed it.  Once dried I used multiple mediums painted over the gel.  The gel acts as a resist and the paint puddles in the non raised parts of the texture.
I picked out the teal and yellow items from Turn the Page by Paige Taylor Evans & Pink Paislee.  I die cut some flowers to layer using a 12×12  and a 6×6 paper, I also die cut leaves from the pretty star paper.  The mint ribbon is a specialty ribbon from

Recently my daughter has been studying for her drivers learner permit.  We have a road on our land where they put in the oil well and it is the perfect place for her to practice driving!  I definitely had to brace myself a bit for this new adventure in life!!  She did really great after a few crinkles with the brakes got ironed out!!

I think you could use the gorgeous Flower Background (Design ID #216723) by Paige Taylor Evans + Silhouette with just about any photo!  I used Paper 10 from Turn the Page by Paige Taylor Evans & Pink Paislee for the cut file.  I decided to keep my photo and embellishments to the left of the page, so I could still enjoy a lot of the background!  I let the fussy cut quote, journal card, chipboard and ephemera from Turn the Page tell the story for me!  I couldn’t resist digging into my white button stash to add a button to the centers of the flowers on the background!

I have a Hip Kit Club layout featuring the Turn the Page Stamp Set by Paige Taylor Evans & Pink Paislee found in the Hip Kit Club September 2017 Embellishment Kit! I stamped multiple flowers and leaves on white card stock and fussy cut them for my layout. I used one of the Hip Kit August Cut Files made by Kimberly Hutchinson as the base of the stamp flowers for extra dimension and color. I used plenty of gorgeous Turn the Page Journal tabs and Die Cuts to Jazz up the page!!

I used a photo of  a rare moment captured of my mom and dad 🙂 Hope you are inspired to make your own flowers with the Turn the Page stamp set!

My Grandma always use to sing the “You Are My Sunshine” song to me!  I love that the little paper clip banner from Turn the Page by Paige Taylor Evans & Pink Paislee has that sentiment on it!  There is also the word Sunshine in the Take Me Away Thickers, so my page was set!  I spritzed through a sunbeam stencil with Shimmerz Carribean Sunset and Sunset Strip sprays.  I then added messy stitching through each of the painted rays and sprinkled more paint dots.  To make the sunshine thicker title pop I painted it with gold paint and added some gold glitter.  Fussy cut butterflies from Turn the Page were the perfect embellishment!  I used one of my favorite photos of Hannah and I when she was a baby!

Painted title.

Pretty butterflies!

Wild Heart

In my opinion you can never go wrong with hearts!  The Stained Glass Heart cut file by Paige Taylor Evans + Silhouette is the perfect shape to showcase gorgeous papers!  I used Turn the Page by Paige Taylor Evans & Pink Paislee 6×6 papers to back each spot in the heart.  I simply flipped the heart upside down and traced the inside shape onto the back of the paper and then cut it a bit larger than the pencil outline.  I would glue in the shape after it was cut so I didn’t get it in the wrong spot!  I stitched in the middle of the white borders with my sewing machine and I also used the paper from the cut file leftover and stitched around the heart with messy stitches and cut it out, again just freehand messy!  To give the hearts definition from the background I ripped strips of paper and tucked them under the heart.  I embellished with fussy cut sparrows, a pretty gold title from Take Me Away, puffy stickers, ribbons and ephemera from Turn the Page!

Super Star

I was very scrappy this past week and have a layout using the Super Star Cut File from Paige Taylor Evans + Silhouette!

I paired it with Turn the Page by Paige Evans & Pink Paislee. Turn the Page has spectacular stars in the collection with gold foiling on them, a star stamp, star washi tape and chipboard stars! The possibilities are endless with so much to choose from! I backed the top half of the cut file with blues and greens and switched to pinks for the bottom half. I layered in all kinds of stars and finished off the star cluster with pieces from the journal pack!

My daughter won an award for her ballet solo last spring and she is always a super star to me!

Books and More Books

Books are a serious thing at our house!  I have always been a reader and Hannah is a voracious reader!  She learned to read early and has never stopped!  Very early on, I gave up buying books and instead we make great use of libraries!  I think being a home school kid, she has always had more time to read which is a great thing!  When I first got Oh My Heart I knew one day I would go crazy with the books and book paper.  I fussy cut like a mad woman this week, cutting all the books and also the 6×6 sheet of flowers.  I tinkered around with a few different layouts with the books and then settled on a pennant arrangement.  It seemed to show them off the best without overtaking the whole page!  I chose one of my many library photos for the layout!  I have the digital version of Oh My Heart as well so I used one of the open books from the paper and typed on it in Photoshop for a little journal spot!  I had a few of the Books and More Books cards from the multiple paks of Die Cuts I have gone through, so I thought using both of them added to the visual story of how much she reads!  Thank you Paige Evans for making such a wonderful Oh My Heart collection!!

I thought I would punch some circles from the 6×6 Turn the Page Paper pads and then see what happens!  I fiddled around with the circles cut in half for quite awhile and then settled on a similar design as my Love You Lots layout.  I don’t mind repeating a design that I love, it turns out differently anyway!  This time I filled in half circles all the way to the center and then stacked my photo and embellishments on top!  I used the gorgeous yellow fantastic title and carpe diem chipboard arrow from Take Me Away by Paige Evans & Pink Paislee.  The rest of the pretty flowers and banner clip are from Turn the Page.  I adore how it turned out.  So colorful and fun!

Start Here

I decided to go big with my photo on this layout.  My wide format printer is being persnickety these days so I printed it on 8.5×11 photo paper.  It leaves a nice border around the edge of the 12×12 page so it’s all good!  I used some random labels for my journaling and fussy cut the start here arrow from one of the Turn the Page 6×4 cards.  I played around with all sorts of embellishments and then tried a chipboard arrow and loved it.  So I found all the arrows in the collection and tucked them around the journal labels.

For some extra layers I stamped the flower and leaves from the Turn the Page Stamp Set onto white cardstock and fussy cut them.  They bring the perfect amount of black onto the left side to balance the black in the photo!  I love how the page turned out!  Turn the Page by Paige Evans & Pink Paislee has so many different options, I see something new everytime I work with it!
