Planner Decorating with Flourish – Crate Paper

I still get a little giddy each time I get out the Flourish collection by Maggie Holmes & Crate Paper to make something with.  The florals, patterns, ephemera are right up my alley and there isn’t anything I don’t love!   I decided to deck out my Heidi Swapp planner with Flourish.

Awhile ago, while playing with Flourish I made a teeny travellers notebook out of the botanical  book cover ephemera.  It has little page and I added tassels to the spine.  It looks super cute tucked into the pocket! The 6×8 papers from the cardmaker pad fit beautifully in the side pocket and add another spot to decorate and tuck things in!

For the dashboard I simply punched holes in another paper from the 6×8 pad.  No need to trim the paper they fit beautifully!  I layered it under the gold acetate that came with my planner.

I made a library card pocket for the front of the dashboard.  I used a similiar pocket from the Confetti Collection by Maggie Holmes as a guide.  I have all kinds of bits tucked into the pocket and some lovely sentiments stitched on top of it!

On the pocket side of the planner, I lightly tacked everything in place with adhesive.  It is enough to keep it from falling off but not so sticky as to ruin the pockets.  It is fun to change this area out and make it a pretty place to look at!

Tea Bag Cards – Crate Paper

Today I am sharing some pretty interactive cards I made using the Maggie Holmes Flourish collection by Crate Paper! I remembered that I had downloaded a tea bag shape from the silhouette store some time ago and thought that would be a fun jumping off point for an interactive card! As I was looking through the Flourish collection I spotted three little tea stickers!! That sealed the deal for me and made it so easy to pick papers and items to go on each card.

I started first with the Chamomile Tea sticker the white wild roses on the Greenhouse paper went beautifully with the chamomile flowers so I cut the tea card from that paper. I decorated the front with white and green ephemera and stickers and made sure to include a little bit of yellow! I chose a Love You sentiment from the sticker sheet.

These little teapots are so sweet! I would love to have a collection of them! I tucked in one of the gold foil leaves for a little eye-catching sparkle behind the chamomile tea jar!

Next up is the English Rose Tea card. I think this one is my favourite! I chose the Emma paper for it’s delicate little blooms and cut the tea card on my silhouette. I added the illustrated black and white ephemera as the base so that the tea jar would show up nicely! The antique fair ticket is cut from the Always paper, I antiqued the edges with a bit of ink.

The “heart you” sentiment seemed to be perfect for the Rose Tea card! You can see that I added a bit of machine stitching on the cards for subtle detail.

Oh those lazy days drinking Summertime Tea! In my dreams!! I love how fresh and pretty this card turned out. I trimmed the black and white card into a tag shape to fit the tea card and decorated it with a pretty yellow floral sticker, another ticket from the Always paper and a fussy cut heart from the Poppy paper I cut the card from.

The detail on these tiny tea canister stickers is so lovely! You can see the stitching under the tea jar (which I popped up on foam dots) and the inked ticket to make it look even more vintage.

These cards were really easy to make, with just a few folds and pretty decorations. To further customize them I cut the matching tea label on the end of the strings out of the same papers and decorated each one with a tiny vintage ticket. You can fill the cards with individually packaged tea bags or add loose tea, they would smell divine!!

I hope you enjoyed these cards! You could easily make the same little tea canister clusters on the front of a traditional card as well!

Found Myself – Hip Kit Club

Hello!  I am sharing a layout today that was made by just playing with all the gorgeous products in the March 2018 Hip Kits!  I didn’t have any specific assignment which was super fun!  I picked out most of the goodies from the Embellishment Pak and used them for my color scheme.

I piled up loads of Crate Paper ephemera and Pinkfresh Studio frames around my photo.

I love how the mixed media shows through the Pinkfresh Studio Be You frames!

I added some white paint and Vicki Boutin Irridescent glaze to the Pebbles Thickers to change the color!

Happy Bin

I recently moved my craft room around and in the process came across so many pretty things in my stash I haven’t used.  I decided enough was enough and gathered it all together to put into a few buckets.  I cut all the sticker sheets apart, so that I would be more likely to use pieces if they were not a full nice package!  I took each and every piece of chipboard off the backing as well and used my little DIY de-stickering poof (nylon pouch filled with cornstarch) so that they would be ready to use as well.  I usually use a glue gun to attach most items so losing the stick wasn’t a big deal to me, it actually helps so that I can lay items on a layout and see if I like them!

I added Ces’t La Vie from Pink Paislee, Shine/Carousel/Bloom/Cute Girl/Chasing Dreams from Crate Paper & Maggie Holmes, Heidi Swapp goodies, 1Canoe2, Felicity Jane, Dear Lizzy and other bits and pieces that matched the colors.

I love having it all together, it will take me a day or two to figure out how to work with the buckets, so far there has been a lot of rummaging!  I seem to be more likely to make bits and pieces out of what I have instead of leaving it in the nice packaging!

Then and Now

Over the years I have made a point of taking then and now photos.  I love to see how things and people have stayed the same and also how they’ve changed!  This week for my Hip Kit assignment I was to use the Crate Paper Interactive Journal cards and the Turn the Page Sticker book from the September 2017 Hip Kits.

My first step was to cut up the Crate Paper Label paper from the September Paper Kit and add stickers from the Turn the Page Sticker book to the labels.  I tucked the labels into the CP pockets for a fun little find when someone is looking at the layout.  I lightly added some paint and gold splatters to the background to soften all the square edges.  I typed my journaling onto the exclusive project life cards designed by Kimberly Hutchinson.

The mint card has a large opening at the top. I tucked in another journal card with a few labels. I decided to add my photo on top of the pocket.

The pretty yellow card has a gorgeous tag tucked into it, I added labels and a journal card from the Turn the Page Journaling Spot pack in the September 2017 Embellishment kit.  For my Now & Then titles I used the gorgeous gold Hip Kit Exclusive Alpha!

Grade 3 Layout

I busted out my Maggie Holmes/Crate Paper – Chasing Dreams stash!  I have always loved Maggie Holmes designs and Chasing Dreams is so pretty!  I fiddled around for quite a bit and then decided on a clothesline for this layout to hang all the photos and cute banners and tags!  I added a little cluster down at the bottom as I ended up with too much white space so that finished it right off!  I used an L2E scripted month stamp for the September label.
