Found Myself – Hip Kit Club

Hello!  I am sharing a layout today that was made by just playing with all the gorgeous products in the March 2018 Hip Kits!  I didn’t have any specific assignment which was super fun!  I picked out most of the goodies from the Embellishment Pak and used them for my color scheme.

I piled up loads of Crate Paper ephemera and Pinkfresh Studio frames around my photo.

I love how the mixed media shows through the Pinkfresh Studio Be You frames!

I added some white paint and Vicki Boutin Irridescent glaze to the Pebbles Thickers to change the color!

HRM – Hip Kit Club

This week at the Hip Kit Club we are playing along with a mood board that Jill Sprott created!  I also had the assignment to have “fun with alphas” for my layout.  This is the first time I have used a mood board to make a layout, to begin with I was taking it VERY literally and ending up with backgrounds that didn’t go with anything in the kit, once I decided to use a more general inspiration approach it went better for me!  I loved using a mood board and definitely want to put more practice into it!

I decided to run with the circles all over the mood board and used a  big doily I had sitting around.  I used any and all alphas I could find in the March 2018 Hip Kits, I even used letters from the Pebbles Thickers Phrases to spell out the words around my circle.

I used the Simple Stories I Am chipboard to embellish around my photo and in between the words around the circle.  I love the colors in this pak!

Driving – Paige Evans + Silhouette

I have been wanting to make a layout with one of Paige’s cut files with the design of the cut file layered on top for awhile!  Not sure if it was luck or beginner skill in the silhouette software but I figured out how to extract one of the pretty flowers from the Geometric Flower Circle and cut it seperatly!  I cut the flower circle and 9 flowers from white card stock to get started!

I used the multi colour jewel paper from the Take Me Away 12×12 Paper pad to back the circle.  I love how the colours in the paper give variation to the flowers in the circle without having to back each of them individually!  I made sure that the yellow in the paper was set to the top right of the page to enhance the sunshine in the photo!

I do love a circle design and for me it is a great opportunity to get my Thickers out for a big long title!  I used alphas from Take Me Away, Fancy Free, Turn the Page and Pick Me Up.  They coordinate beautifully together and look so interesting!  I chose a few spots for the white flowers and added co-ordinating coloured buttons to the centre of the flowers.  A few puffy stickers, rub ons and chipboard hearts from Pick Me Up provided cute little details!

Wildheart – Crate Paper

Today I am sharing a layout made with the brand new Wild Heart Collection by Crate Paper! I love this collection! The tropical vibe is trendy and the patterned papers are so much fun! I was really pulled towards the pinks and started out with a bold background. To tone it down just a bit I added a piece of white card stock with simple circles cut out of it. I love how the patterns peek through! I added some lines of machine stitching and gold splatters to finish it off!

The stay sassy frame from the ephemera pack started this whole layout. I couldn’t ask for a better sentiment for a teen photo! I layered a pink wild at heart standout next to the title and added a much love sentiment from the sticker sheet to make a little title cluster! The love epoxy clip is so cute!! I tucked it onto the side of my photo near the title cluster.

The cut apart papers are always one of my favourite items. The cards and tags are great for layering or for using as a focal point. I chose to use the “hey” cards and tags tucked in and around my photo on this layout. I also cut the co-ordinating tags to tuck in as well. If the saying on the card doesn’t go with the theme of your page you still get the pop of pattern or colour!

I love it when there are stamps in a Crate Paper collection! The Wild Heart stamps make the collection go even further with the addition of the leaf stamps. I stamped the two larger leaves with black ink on white card stock and fussy cut them for this layout. If you look closely you can see that I layered the ephemera prize ribbon under the standout for a subtle detail!

Unique Titles for Cards – Crate Paper

The Flourish collection has so many possibilities to have a play on words for titles for your cards or layouts. I put the Flourish 6×8 card making pad to work with these cards, so simple to just select a paper and score down the middle and fold and you have an instant card base to decorate!

My first card features the lovely lemons in the Flourish collection, I just had to use the “When Life Gives You Lemons” sentiment! I started with the Lemon Paper for the card base and I fussy cut lemons from the Ponderosa paper and used the lemon branch from the Puffy Stickers. To make the title pop I used both the metallic alphas for loads of bling and stitched through the titles for added interest and texture!

I wanted to make sure I had plenty of dimension on this card. I popped the tag up with cardboard and added foam sticky dots to the fussy cut lemon branch and also the puffy sticker.

For my next card, I chose the pink with green roses paper as it perfectly co-ordinated with the square xo card. I wanted to do a play on the all the xo’s I found in the collection. The gold puffy stickers are gorgeous and I layered them on top of the little square card from the Memorable cut apart paper. I added yet another xoxo at the bottom of the tag from the card stock sticker sheet, the recipient will hopefully feel all the hugs and kisses!! I added a bit of typing to further support the title theme!

The pretty butterfly from the Standouts was the perfect final touch for the card!

It was fun to see what titles I could come up with, whether you use unique items or a unique phrase or words, it really does give your cards that extra special and custom-made touch!

Beautiful Butterflies – Hip Kit Club

I certainly have been dreaming of spring lately and the February 2018 Hip Kits go right along with that dream!  The colors are fresh and delightul.  I used one of the exclusive cut files of the butterflies and bugs.  I cut out only the butterflys and then I fussy cut a load of butterflies from the Crate Paper buttefly paper.  I used 3 standout butterflys from Crate Paper Flourish Standouts found in the February 2018 Hip Kit Embellishment Pak.  I layered the fussy cut and die cut butterflies around a circle and tucked my photo in on the right side.  I added the love chipboard from Pick Me Up for the finishing touch!

Hang In There – Paige Evans + Silhouette

I was perusing Paige’s cut file shop at the Silhouette store and spotted the Hang In There Hanger (Design ID #255610) I thought it would be super cute on a layout with bits and pieces hanging from it.

I cut the file from white cardstock and then in the Silhouette software I used the offset feature and then deleted the original cut file so I would have a second layer with a large border.  I painted the cut file with 2 coats of Martha Stewart gold paint and after it dried I glued it onto the border layer.  I cut 5 of the Dipped Leaves (Design ID #227130) and painted the tips gold as well.

On my background I spattered some Heidi Swapp Gold Colorshine and then selected some cute pieces from Pick Me Up by Paige Evans & Pink Paislee.  I added a gold eyelet to my photo and to one of the tags and then attached the bits to the hanger with white crochet thread.

Nurture – Hip Kit Club

Today I am sharing a layout I made featuring the February 2018 Hip Kit Embellishment Add On. I love the Crate Paper Flourish Standouts and used all but 2 of them on my banner! I added some pretty paint from the February 2018 Hip Kit Color Kit to blend the background in with the embellishments. I think adding pretty things to a string banner is one of my favorite ways to make a scrapbook page! I even tucked in one gold “L” from the Gold Thickers!

I love the purple color the distress oxide and dylusion spray from the february 2018 Hip Kit Color kit make!

Pretty bits strung on a string make me happy!

Sweet Little Things

I have been playing with the Vicki Boutin Watercolors and Irridescent Glaze that we received in the March 2018 Hip Kit!  I like to fiddle around with new mixed media goodies to get the hang of how they work and the way the colors dry.    This layout has a lot going on, sometimes I just like to let loose and use all the things!!  I cut quite a few of Paige’s Rolled Flowers (Design ID #238507) and painted them with Vicki’s watercolors.  The background paper is from Turn the Page and the black paper with white script is from Vicki Boutin’s All The Good Things collection.  This page was sure fun to make!

Painty puddles always make me happy!!

Paige’s rolled flower cut files are so versatile!  I cut them from white cardstock and paint them pretty colors!

I mixed the pink watercolor paint with the irridescent glaze and scraped it over a stencil for the big dots!

Blue China – Crate Paper

The moment I saw the pretty blue and white floral paper named Poetic in the Crate Paper Flourish collection I thought of my Aunt and her love of blue and white china.  I fussy cut every rose out of the Poetic paper, I knew I wanted them to be bountiful on the layout!  I also used a paper I had painted with Vicki Boutin’s Watercolors as inspiration and as a layer on the page.  I had to channel my inner Jill Sprott to include so many patterned papers and lengthy journaling!

At the last minute I added a small strip of paper with the row houses on it.  It tied in all the colors from the ephemera and went with the homey story!  I had started the layout with just blues and it all blended too much, the addition of a little bit of pink and yellow made it much more interesting!  It was so much fun to use so many papers.  I will definitely try it again!

I love how the roses play off of the watercolor behind them!  I kept my photos fairly simple since I knew I wanted a busy full background!

I cut so many tickets from the Always paper, Maggie Holmes usually includes lots of tickets and vintage feeling paper items in her collections.  They really fit well with the story on my page and tucked them in where all the papers overlapped.
