Hello friends! Get ready for some floral magnificence! I received the Parklane Paperie Praire Primrose Paper Pad from Joann’s to work with. Park Lane paper pads have something for everyone and every style! Bold, beautiful colours complement a variety of patterns and finishes to fit nearly any project you’re working on. 12×12 packs are perfect for scrapbook pages, albums, handmade cards and more. Pick and choose from a variety of colourful packs for a style that’s uniquely you! This pack includes 34 sheets of 12×12-inch paper in rustic floral designs. The Praire Primrose Pad has gorgeous textures, including foil, embossed and my absolute favourite linen textured papers.
I decided to make myself a new journal with the paper pad! The feel of the rose linen paper is amazing! It feels like fabric with the working qualities of paper! I knew it had to be the cover of my journal!
To make the journal, I cut, three pieces of book board and wrapped them with paper. I chose the embossed wood grain paper for the spine to coordinate with the floral cover. I could have 100 pieces of this woodgrain paper! I made the cover to fit a regular size travellers notebook insert. I added a simple elastic closure with a little charm for decoration, and some hand waxed embroidery floss with beads and buttons for a “charm.”
You will see that I kept the journal plain for now so that you could see the papers in all their glory! On the inside, I used the sweet yellow rose paper for the front and back cover. My first insert is made from a mix of the paper pad, vintage paper and coffee dyed paper. I used the gorgeous yellow rose floral for the cover of the insert.
Look at how lovely the papers are close up!
In the middle of the inserts, I made a pocket insert from white cardstock and slipped the pink rose acetate over top of it. I can use it for sticky notes or just admire it! I clipped a 3×4 card from the cut apart sheet included in the paper pad. The cut apart sheet has a mix of journal cards and sentiment cards! My second insert is similar to the first and full of florals and mixed patterns from the pad.
I adore how my journal turned out. If you love florals, yo,u will love this paper pad. I was impressed with the lovely quality of each of the papers! You can find all the Parklane Paperie Pads online at Joann.com.
This is beautiful! Where do you buy bookboard? And how do you keep the inserts inside the cover? Are they attached in some way? Do you have a tutorial on how to make these books?
I love your work!
Thank you so much, Helen! I buy chipboard from Scrapbook.com but I mostly use old hardcover books I buy at the thrift store! This particular journal has elastic to hold the inserts, much like a traveller’s notebook cover. The inserts slip off and on the elastics in the middle of the insert. I do not have a tutorial, it would be fun to make one in the future, I will make a note of that!
