Hello Crate Paper friends! Lorilei here today sharing a Countdown Tag Flip project! I was excited to see that I was assigned to make a crafting with youth project this week. I brainstormed with my teenage daughter, and we came up with all sorts of ideas and then came to the decision to make something fun for her summer school days in July!
My daughter will have 19 days of summer school (she is working ahead to complete Grade 11), and we thought it would be cool to be able to count down the workdays since they will be so intense! Plus it is something pretty to look at 🙂 I started by making a base out of cardboard for the project. I cut a piece out of a box that is 6″x5.75 (front), 6″x6″ (back) with a 3″ base. I painted the inside of the stand white and covered the front and back with All Heart papers from the 6×8 paper pad. While I was making the base, Hannah selected and cut papers for all the tags we would need.
We added hole reinforcers to the tags (I used my WeRMemory Keepers hole reinforcer punch) in coordinating colors. Next, we laid out die cuts, stickers, and chipboard to come up with a cute look for each tag. I found an older American Crafts Thickers alphabet called Shoebox White Glitter that went perfectly with the holographic foil in All Heart and used that for the numbers on the tags. It was pretty cool to find so many relatable pieces for encouragement and real life in All Heart. I love that so much about the collection! Hannah and I worked on some of the tags together, and then she decided she wanted to be surprised when she flipped them during summer school, so I made the rest of the tags!
Once the tags were all assembled, I added a pocket to the front of the stand and tucked in a card cut from the Element Paper that has holographic foil! Hannah is taking Grade 11 Chemistry in summer school, so the paper is quite fitting and cute! I made a “fairy” wand to tuck into the pocket, and I love how the Shine chipboard stands out! I finished off the pocket with a large pink puffy embellishment and added an All Heart Glitter heart to a paper clip to attach to the top of the pocket.
The sky is the limit with this project! You could countdown pretty much any event and of course Crate Paper has the cutest collections to help make it pretty! I can imagine that Hooray would be darling to countdown the days until a birthday arrives! Thanks so much for having a look at my project today! Hannah and I both love how it turned out, and she is looking forward to a little bit of pretty during summer!
