Hocus Pocus

Everyday this week I will be sharing a Halloween layout!  I got on a bit of a roll with Paige Taylor Evans + Silhouette Halloween cut files so I have 6 layouts to share!  I hope you enjoy “Halloween Week”.

My first layout uses the fabulous Hocus Pocus Design ID #220851 cut file by Paige Taylor Evans + Silhouette.  I used Turn the Page by Paige Taylor Evans & Pink Paislee to decorate the layout.  You really can use almost any collection for Halloween!  The bright fun colors add plenty of pop and style!  The washi tape book from Turn the Page has 12″ long pieces of washi which are excellent for borders!

Hannah caved into my photo begging this year and made a scary face just for me 🙂

I cut a second cut file with a 1/4 offset from plain white cardstock so the black letters would “pop” more!

These pumpkins are so cute!!

Stash – Jill Sprott

In July 2017 Jill Sprott posted about a Stash Busting Challenge and showed the layouts she made with the kit compiled from her stash.  I missed out on joining the challenge at the time, but thought I would do it this week for fun!  I followed the kit content outline Jill provided and made a kit from my stash.  My stash isn’t very old but it is big enough that I needed to make a dent in it!

I didn’t take too long making the kit.  I have a tendency to overthink things and didn’t want to do that for this challenge.  I started with the Live More Die Cut Pak by Pinkfresh Studio to guide the color choice and style of the kit.  I went down Jill’s list and just grabbed items that fit the list and matched the die cut pak.  For one fo the specialty papers I chose a long hoarded gold foil polka dot paper!!

Continue down the post to see the pages I made with my kit!  I really enjoyed the challenge and will definitely do it again, if you have stash you would like to use up, be sure to visit Jill’s blog!

For my first page I went right for the gold dot paper!  I layered some of the papers and journal cards.  The addition of the journal cards in the kit is brilliant and I used them on all 3 pages.  I added some Gold Heidi Swapp Color Shine in the background.  The fun part of the challenge is that Jill says to use your tools, paints and supplies along with your kit!  I really love how this page turned out.  The Pinkfresh pak has plenty of great pieces to use as titles!

For my second page I knew I wanted to use the yellow paper for sure, so I started with it.  This page came together very quickly, I think that is the beauty of making your kit.  You just grab what is in front of you and make it work!  I paired the yellow with the pink paper from Studio Calico.  I thought this layout was the perfect one to make a big title on!  I love this page too, very cheery!

As you can see, I again reached for the gold paper for my third layout!  It is beautiful paper by My Mind’s Eye and I really enjoyed using it.  Goes to show that you shouldn’t hoard stuff!  I have had this photo of Hannah’s menagarie of stuffies sitting on my desk for awhile so I thought I would use it!  I chose quite a few of the Hazelwood stickers and used another title from the Pinkfresh pak.  I stitched the banners and tag with my sewing machine and embellished with the Valentine Puffy Hearts by American Crafts.  The page is sweet and simple and I love it!

Hello Awesome

I was excited to post my first Mixed Media Monday project for Hip Kit Club this week!

The Shimmerz sprays in the Color Add-on Kit this month are such gorgeous colors I had to use them all!  I started out the layout by spritzing the mists onto packaging and smushing them onto the white cardstock, I added splatters and let the background dry.  I hand cut some petals and glued them all together with my glue gun for the big burnt orange flower.  I sprayed each of the mists onto the flower letting them dry in between.  I used my silhouette to cut the top two flowers and also applied mist to them.  I used my die cut machine to cut leaves from the mint/teal paper in the Paper kit.  A few die cuts and puffy stickers from Turn the Page added just the right details to finish the page!

Believe

I adore the Flower Vase (Design ID #217950) cut file by Paige Taylor Evans + Silhouette!  Honestly, I cut the file from white card stock and just pinned it up so I could look at it for a week, just as it was!  I kept my layout fairly simple by mounting my 4×6 photo on foam to pop it up and then tacking the cut file in just a couple spots with hot glue on the jar.  I then could lift up the floral area and add watercolor paint with a brush underneath the flowers and leaves.  It isn’t perfect, but I love the carefree look it gives!  I made a little cluster of embellishments using Turn the Page to represent a card on a floral pick (the kind in bouquets) a few paint splatters and voila!!
