That Face

Today I am sharing a layout I made when I started scrapbooking.  For awhile I stuck pretty hard to the grid design in order to give myself some rules and figure things out!  I used Cute Girl by Crate Paper for this page.  I adore Cute Girl and found myself choosing photos from when Hannah was little.  Her being little sometimes feels like just yesterday and sometimes it feels so long ago!!

August Memory Planner

My first assignment for the Hip Kit Club Design Team was for a Memory Planner!  Since I record our everyday lives in Project Life format and I keep up with the stories and plans/appt in my Traveler’s Notebook.  I use this 6×8 binder just for fun!  It is like a smash book/junk journal/memory planner.  It could be pretty much anything you want it to be!  I use the black polka dot Simple Stories binder and assorted pocket pages.

For the first page I cut down a 4 pocket – pocket page so I just had two 3×4 spots showing.  I used pocket cards from the Hip Kit PL add-on and embellished with Maggie Holmes Ephemera.

Back side of the first page – I typed up a quote I loved from the amazing Jill Sprott and made a little banner with the Carousel sticky notes.  The 2nd card has a label and heart from the Pretty Little Studio pack.  The right side shows an insert I made with one of the August Hip Kit cut files!  Embellished with cut file flowers and leaves and more Carousel ephemera.

The back side of the cut file insert with a layered cluster and a pocket page with 2×2 squares.  I printed off images of some of my scrapbook layouts from August and a few fav snapshots!

Back side of the 2×2 pocket page with more snapshots and mini layouts and on the right side I cut a tag from one of the papers from the August 2017 main kit and stitched on a cut file “So Lovely”.

Backside of the tag and the final pocket page.  I used the 6×4 August PL card and layered a cut file and Carousel Ephemera.  In the bottom calendar I just wrote a little snippet from that day.

Sunshine

My Grandma always use to sing the “You Are My Sunshine” song to me!  I love that the little paper clip banner from Turn the Page by Paige Taylor Evans & Pink Paislee has that sentiment on it!  There is also the word Sunshine in the Take Me Away Thickers, so my page was set!  I spritzed through a sunbeam stencil with Shimmerz Carribean Sunset and Sunset Strip sprays.  I then added messy stitching through each of the painted rays and sprinkled more paint dots.  To make the sunshine thicker title pop I painted it with gold paint and added some gold glitter.  Fussy cut butterflies from Turn the Page were the perfect embellishment!  I used one of my favorite photos of Hannah and I when she was a baby!

Painted title.

Pretty butterflies!

Wild Heart

In my opinion you can never go wrong with hearts!  The Stained Glass Heart cut file by Paige Taylor Evans + Silhouette is the perfect shape to showcase gorgeous papers!  I used Turn the Page by Paige Taylor Evans & Pink Paislee 6×6 papers to back each spot in the heart.  I simply flipped the heart upside down and traced the inside shape onto the back of the paper and then cut it a bit larger than the pencil outline.  I would glue in the shape after it was cut so I didn’t get it in the wrong spot!  I stitched in the middle of the white borders with my sewing machine and I also used the paper from the cut file leftover and stitched around the heart with messy stitches and cut it out, again just freehand messy!  To give the hearts definition from the background I ripped strips of paper and tucked them under the heart.  I embellished with fussy cut sparrows, a pretty gold title from Take Me Away, puffy stickers, ribbons and ephemera from Turn the Page!
